Helldivers 2 Players Insist on Major Buffs for the Next Patch

Helldivers 2 planet effects variety players look at an Ion Storm

Helldivers 2 fans have been quite dissatisfied with the game’s developers lately. Even with recent promises from the Community Manager, players seem to be left wanting more. After many balancing issues, and unhelpful patches, not to mention the long-awaited Polar Patriots Warbond that didn’t really deliver, players are expressing their wishes for the future buffs in Helldivers 2.

Fans Make a List of Desired Weapon Improvements for the Future

Of course, the first thing on this wishlist has to be the improvement of weapons. This has to be the number one complaint all over the social media. Fans are clear on this issue – weapon nerfs must stop, and it’s finally time to see some buffs. Some wishes are small and reasonable, for example, a tiny damage buff to the AR-23P Liberator Penetrator. That buff would allow it to outdamage the regular AR-23 Liberator, making it useful.

Other players have much bigger dreams. A Redditor, LucatIel_of_M1rrah, made a comprehensive list of changes, which many fans approved of. Some of the proposed changes are:

  • AR-23 Liberator: Damage 60 –> 70
  • AR-23P Liberator Penetrator: Damage 45 –> 60
  • AR-23C Liberator Concussive: Recoil 28 –> 20; Fire rate 320 –> 475
  • AR-61 Tenderizer: Damage 60 –> 80
  • BR-14 Adjudicator: Recoil: horizontal recoil reduced by 80%; Capacity: Extra mags increased 8-> 9
  • R-63 Diligence: Damage: 125 –> 128
  • R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper: Damage: 140 –> 175
  • MP-98 Knight: Damage: 50 –> 60; Recoil: 20 –> 10; Bug fix: Receives full ammo back on resupply
  • SG-8S Slugger: Heavy stagger added back; Projectile velocity reduced 25%; Projectile drop increased 25%
  • SG-225 Breaker: Capacity: 13 –> 16
  • SG-225SP Breaker Spray&Pray: Capacity: 26 –> 30; Recoil 45 –> 28; Improved ergonomics
  • CB-9 Exploding Crossbow: Damage: 420 –> 550
  • R-36 Eruptor: Damage: 420 –> 650; AOE: Restored to post AOE nerf value but before the shrapnel was removed
  • LAS-5 Scythe: Damage 350 –> 400; Scope: Changed to Sickle/Liberator scope

Suggested buffs for Pseudo Primaries and others:

  • MG-43 Machine Gun: Damage: 80 –> 90; Reload: able to reload while moving; Capacity: reserve mags 2 –> 3
  • MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun: Total ammo 225 –> 250; Damage: 102 –> 128
  • Recoilless / Quasar Cannon: Damage: +10%; Projectile: Hitbox size increased by 25%
  • FAF-14 Spear: Projectile: Hitbox size increased by 25%, with priority on weak spots

Helldivers 2 Community Agrees on Quality of Life Improvements

Because of all the nerfs, a whole other aspect of the game has been overlooked. There have been many requests for quality-of-life improvements over time. Lately, players have asked for higher visibility, less fog, or at least items that would help them navigate the low-visibility areas. Fans requested the addition of Night Vision Goggles and maybe a Thermal or a Sample scanner.

Others would welcome a bigger planetary variety with open arms. It would be cool to explore some new landscapes. Maybe encounter some (friendly!) wildlife. A while back, there were some rumors about the introduction of some non-threatening fauna, but so far, we are yet to experience it. Also, it would add to the cinematic experience if players could fight in the ruins, climb high stairways, and shoot out of the windows and doorways of other structures. Not every fight has to be near the same old pre-fabricated cluster of destructible buildings.

Many players wish for the addition of new enemies. Developers have been known to surprise the fans and introduce them to new enemies without prior announcement. So, when the first flying “bugs” showed up, fans were in complete shock. Some have asked developers to announce the arrival of new enemies, so that they can be prepared, both physically and emotionally. Another popular request is for Spewers, Chargers, and Hulks to have some sort of sound or visual cues. As of now, they catch people off guard (yes, stealth-chargers are real), which is a little unrealistic for an enemy of that size.

Fans would adore to see some customization options as well. Current options have been called “weak tea”, with players wanting to see more variety and more color choices. It would be fun to see a bigger selection and easier access to Emotes.

Which Stratagems Would the Helldivers Bring Back

Another huge request includes more Stratagems for survival being available, with the Shield Pack being the only option, so far. A fan, Liqhthouse, noticed: “Currently the Shield Pack is literally the only one that directly increases your survivability”. They suggested the reintroduction of some Stratagems from the original Helldivers, as well as one pretty cool perk.

The stratagems in question are REP-80 Mk3 and AD-289 ‘Angel’ Mk3. The first one, AKA the Medic Gun, is a very versatile repair tool capable of repairing damaged vehicles as well as mending flesh. The latter is a support drone capable of healing injured Helldivers that are nearby. It has a limited supply of a regenerative substance and must land in the backpack to refill when it runs out.

As for the aforementioned perk, it is the Displacement Field. The idea is that when a player suffers critical damage, they would be automatically teleported to safety. If this were brought back as a Backpack Stratagem, it could be an alternative to the ubiquitous Shield Pack.

The players would love to get more free Stratagems, as well as random Stratagems for rewards. Another often-mentioned thing is the number of Stratagem slots. Some wouldn’t care about weapon nerfs if they were able to choose up to five Stratagems.

As for what the future holds for the dedicated Helldivers 2 fans – we’ll have to wait and see. Players wish for some major and minor buffs, hopefully, the developers will deliver. The next Warbond hasn’t been announced yet, so the developers obviously take into consideration their fans’ opinions. Does the future hold any buffs for Helldivers 2 players? Let’s wait and see!
