You need a special plant to survive in the surface world. Read this article to learn how to get Thalamus in Hades 2.
The story of Hades 2 revolves around Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and daughter of Hades and Persephone. As you’d expect, most of the action happens in the Underworld, but some quests may ask you to go to the surface world. But, beings from the Underworld cannot stay on the surface for long. Since Melinoë will eventually have to go to the surface, she’ll need special crafting material to help her out. So, let’s see how to get Thalamus in Hades 2.
Hades 2: How to Get Thalamus
The Thalamus is a special plant that you cannot simply find on your runs. Rather, you have to grow it in order to harvest and use it. They will grow from Origin Seeds, that you plant at the Crossroads.
You will find Origin Seeds only in the realm of Chaos. Chaos Gates will start to appear after a couple of runs in Erebus, especially after you defeat your first boss. These gates will randomly appear during your runs, are circular in shape, and have the symbol of an eye. Entering them will take some of your Health away.
After a couple of visits to the realm of Chaos, you will receive Origin Seeds as a gift. Usually, soon after you visit the surface and realize that you need a special Incantation to survive up there. From that point on, Origin Seeds will start appearing in the realm.
Once in the realm of Chaos, look for patches of dirt. Bear in mind that these patches are not guaranteed, so a couple of visits to the realm of Chaos may be required. Approach the dirt and use the Silver Shovel on it, to dig out the Origin Seed. Once you have dug out the Origin Seed, go back to the Crossroads to plant it.
You should have a couple of Soil Plots by now at the Crossroads. If not, perform the “Flourishing Soil” Incantation to add two Soil Plots, that you can use for gardening. Plant your Origin Seed in one of the Soil Plots, and after some time, two Talamuses will grow. You can advance the time by doing runs, or by waiting at the Hot Springs.
How to Use Thalamus in Hades 2
For now, Thalamus has only one major use. It is one of the requirements to perform “Unraveling a Fateful Bond” Incantation, which allows you to go to the surface unimpeded.
You also need some to upgrade your Arcana cards. Specifically, it is needed to upgrade the XXV: Judgement card to Rank 2 and to Rank 3, one of the most powerful Arcana Cards in the game.
Additionally, you can sell Thalamus to the Wretched Broker, and you will get 19 Bones for each. It is one of the most valuable reagents that you can sell, but be sure that you do not need it any more before selling
