AFK Player’s Confession Enrages The First Descendant Community

Everyone is aware of the bad rap that surrounds the players who play AFK (away from keyboard). Since the release of The First Descendant, the community has been begging the devs for a way to deal with those players, other than simply reporting them. Recently though, there has been a movement to stop the AFK witch hunt, because non-AFK players were starting to get affected. Now, one of The First Descendant players issued a long confession to playing AFK, seemingly unaware of their fellow Descendants’ rage.

An Unexpected Confession of an AFK Player

Important-Brick-8440 took to Reddit to proudly admit they were an AFK player. They stated: “I’ll gladly admit it. I’m afk in your missions. I don’t feel good about it. But at the end of the day, I’ll make random people carry me to make my life easy when the grind I’m given isn’t enjoyable anymore”.

This player tried to blame the game and its developers. They explained that if the grind was so hard that a player with hundreds of hours in other games went AFK, the game was the problem. Another huge problem for this Descendant was farming, especially for Amorphous Materials.

They complained: “Gold reward after Gold reward. I’m just there for an Amorphous. But since the rewards are Gold plus 2 Amorphous drops. I never actually get what I’m here for and there is no way to make it any better. BUT WHEN I DO! I’ll go to Intercept, kill the boss, and then still not get what I want”.

This player also shared some strong opinions on Boosters. They said: Boosters are useless! My most valuable resource is time. You’re only letting me save 30% of my time when I’m throwing money at my screen? 30% is nothing when the numbers in the game are so small with such a large bar to fill. Trust me, man, I WANT to throw money at my screen to save time but it’s so little it’s not worth it.

The First Descendant Community Shows No Mercy

Now, we’re not the ones to judge anyone, but seeing this petulant confession of an AFK player had us wondering what The First Descendant community had to say. They did not disappoint. Most players pointed out how selfish the AFK player was for stating that their most valuable resource was time but then relying on other players to spend more time and carry the team.

Null0mega said: “If you’re AFK leeching, I’m reporting you and bouncing immediately. It’s as simple as that. If the grind pi**es you off to that extent then quit the game until they make improvements instead of deliberately being useless dead weight in a group”.

Vexmythoclastt added: “Sure the game has many flaws that need addressing but by doing this you’re literally just making the game worse for other players. A s**tty thing to do no matter how you spin it. Don’t like the game in its current state? Go play something else it’s that simple”.

We think the AFK player might have expected a little more support on this topic. They underestimated how sick and tired the community was of this strategy. Honestly, this game could use a bit more sportsmanship, with reportedly 10-25% of players playing AFK. If someone doesn’t enjoy the game, maybe they should consider not playing it. The First Descendant is still a relatively new game, it is bound to have some flaws ironed and some great new additions. We’d suggest the AFK players take a break and return once the conditions are more to their liking.
