There is a lot of choice when it comes to Primary weapons in Helldivers 2. You have Assault Rifles, Marksman Rifles, Shotguns, Submachine Guns and Energy-Based weapons. On the topic of Energy-Based weapons, a new one has arrived, as a part of the Cutting Edge Warbond. This article will explain how you can get your hands on LAS-16 Sickle in Helldivers 2, and how to use it.

Helldivers 2: How to Get the LAS-16 Sickle

LAS-16 Sickle is a new Primary weapon, a part of the Cutting Edge Warbond. You can find the weapon on the first page, and you need 20 Medals to unlock it. Remember that you first have to unlock the Warbond itself, for 1000 Super Credits, to be able to access its contents.

The stats for LAS-16 Sickle are:

  • Damage – 55
  • Fire Limit – 9
  • Recoil – 2
  • Fire Rate – 750
  • Weapon Traits: Light Armor Penetrating, Heat

How to Use the LAS-16 Sickle in Helldivers 2

To use the LAS-16 Sickle you first have to select it as your Primary Weapon, either in the Armory or during the Loadout phase, before diving on a mission.

The LAS-16 Sickle is a lot like any other Primary weapon, you have the same Aim and Fire options like, let’s say, a Liberator. Its additional weapon options (the ones you see when you hold the Reload button) are only for the scope, giving you a choice between 25, 50, and 100 meters. That, combined with its low Recoil value, makes it quite effective at shooting at longer ranges.

It has the same damage as the Liberator “on paper”, but in-game it seems more powerful. It also shoots faster than most weapons. One of the most notable traits of the LAS-16 Sickle is the Heat, ie, it does not use ammunition/reloading. Rather, to more you fire it, the more heat it will generate. When you stop firing, it will cool down. If you happen to overheat it, you have to replace its mag (don’t worry, it has six of those).

Remember that fighting on hot planets makes Heat weapons, well, heat up faster, and fighting on cold planets will have the reverse effect. In short, Heat weapons are best used on cold planets (the ones that have the Extreme Cold effect), and should be avoided on planets that have the Intense Heat effect. That’s not to say they are bad on hot planets, just that you’ll be using up your mags more quickly than usual.

In conclusion, the LAS-16 Sickle is a great addition to any Helldiver’s arsenal. In case you haven’t unlocked it yet, be sure to do so as soon as possible.
