There are innumerable ways that you can dispense Justice in Helldivers 2. From a wide selection of Primary Weapons to Pistols and Grenades, you can select your Loadout to whatever playstyle you prefer. And let’s not forget Stratagems, in the form of Support Weapons and Airstrikes. There are also Sentries, an often overlooked Stratagem type. But, Sentries can be game-changing if used properly and one of the first ones you will get is the Gatling Sentry. So, let’s see how to get and use Gatling Sentry in Helldivers 2.

How to Get Gatling Sentry in Helldivers 2

Gatling Sentry is a Stratagem and you can get it like any other. Go to your Ship Management terminal and select the Stratagems tab. Scroll down to the Robotics Workshop subsection the option there is the Gatling Sentry, second from the top.

You have to be at least Level 5 to unlock it, and it will cost 4000 Requisition credits to do so. Once it is unlocked, remember to select it during the Loadout phase, before the mission starts.

Helldivers 2: How Best to Use Gatling Sentry

Sentries are immobile, automatic, gun platforms. That means you just have to call them down from your Ship, and they will do the rest. The Stratagem Code for Gatling Sentry is Down, Up, Right, Left, Down. Once the Hellpod drops, a Gatling Sentry will emerge and start firing at any enemy in range.

Gatling Sentries are devastating against lightly armored opponents. They have an extremely high fire rate and are one of the best wave clearers in the game. They can turn a Brood Commander into mush in a matter of seconds.

Unfortunately, the Gatling Sentry has several downsides. The first one is that it fires almost constantly, even while locking into another target, basically scything down everything on the path. That wastes its ammo and is a life hazard for all Helldivers nearby. Another downside is that the Sentry can lock into targets it cannot wound (like a Charger or a Shield Devastator), and will fire upon it until it spends its ammo. 

So, to avoid that, you have to play smart. Try dropping the Gatling on a raised position (which is something you should try to do with all Sentries), or somewhere far away. And avoid calling it in when armored enemies are nearby, so as not to waste a perfectly good Sentry.  Or try dealing with those armored opponents before the Sentry deploys.

Best Upgrades for Gatling Sentry

There are a couple of Ship Modules that benefit all Sentries. But, for Gatling Sentries, we would recommend Shock Absorption Gel (which increases its ammo by 50%) and High-Quality Lubricant (significantly increases the rotation speed). These two upgrades will let the Gatling stay longer and acquire new targets faster.
