Helldivers 2 already sold millions of copies, and fans are wondering what’s next in store for their new favorite game. Is there an official Helldiveers 2 Roadmap? Let’s see.
Helldivers 2 hit the shelves on February 08 and it already amassed quite a fanbase. It is a sci-fi cooperative shooter, where you and up to three squad mates embark on dangerous missions. These missions can take you to planets with different biomes, like icy biome, dry biome, jungle, etc. And on these planets, you’ll encounter either the bug-like Terminids or the robotic Automaton Collective. To defeat these foes, you have an arsenal of different weapons, gear, Stratagems, and Boosters to help you out. Quite a lot of stuff already. So much so, that there were server issues, due to the sheer number of players wanting to join in on the fight. With all the success Helldivers 2 already has, fans are wondering what’s in store for the later updates. Is there a Helldivers 2 Roadmap?
Is There a Helldivers 2 Roadmap?
At the moment of writing, Arrowhead Game Studios have not posted an official Roadmap for Helldivers 2. They are still struggling to get back on their feet, after the unexpected influx of players. Moreover, the devs recently increased the server capacity, just as a quick fix, and opened up new positions to handle the tide of new recruits just waiting to join the Galactic War. We expect that the devs will post an official Roadmap as soon as they resolve the pressing issues and get everything back on track.
The latest news we got is that the old roadmap has been scrapped. The developers now have bigger goals than they originally had. On X (former Twitter), one user asked if there would be a roadmap posted soon and Johan Pilestedt replied that it is in the works.
What Can We Expect?
We have gathered a few tidbits of information, regarding what can we expect for the future of Helldivers 2. On PlayStation’s blog, the devs said: “There’s so much more to come as we expand the game’s content offering. We’re excited to confirm that as players fight in the Galactic War, they will also witness events unfold through our planned free updates. The universe of Helldivers 2 will grow and change to give our players refreshed gameplay, introducing new tools, new challenges, and new threats from around the galaxy.”
- [Mechanical red switch]: characterized for being linear and smoother, slight key sound has no paragraph sense with minimal resistance, but fast action without a tactile bump feel which makes it easier to tap the keyboard.
- [Classic charming blue LED backlight]: customize multiple illuminated light effects with static and dynamic, supports about 20 kinds backlight modes, press Fn + Ins/ Home/ PgUp/ Del/ End/ PgDn/ ScrLK to switch , FN + ↑ / ↓ control backlight brightness, FN + -_ / =+ control backlight speed.

With that in mind, we can expect new biomes and Planetary Hazards (like Acid Storms), new mission types (like Evacute High-Value Assets, added in the Automaton front), more weapons, and new enemies. We’re more than excited for this. We’ll update this article as soon as any new information appears.
What We Know So Far
Over time, we have gathered a few official announcements and quite a lot of tidbits, hidden in plain sight. Here’s what we have gathered so far:
- New Warbonds – during one Q&A, the devs stated that a new Warbond will be released “every second Thursday of the month”. That was true from the first new Warbond, called Cutting Edge, and Democratic Detonation is just around the corner. New Warbonds means new weapons, and that is always welcomed.
- New Enemies – In the middle of March 2024, a new enemy type was introduced “under the radar”. Flying Shriekers have been added to the Terminids, without any announcement. From the beginning of April, the Automatons were reinforced with Gunships and Factory Striders, again, with no warning. Who knows what is next?
- New Faction – The Illuminate are a faction from the first Helldivers game. But, more and more sightings and hidden clues have been spotted, pointing towards the arrival of the Illuminate to Helldivers 2. As usual, the devs are silent on this, so there is no official confirmation for now.
