Helldivers 2 is slowly but steadily climbing to the top of the charts. You can play it solo, or you can join up with friends to form a squad of four people. In Helldivers 2 you’ll need every help you can get to survive the waves of alien enemies. These enemies are bug-like Terminids and robotic Automatons, each poised to destroy Democracy in its own way. Speaking of Automatons, some players have trouble dealing with Scout Striders. So, we have compiled the best ways to find and kill Scout Striders in Helldivers 2.
How to Find Scout Striders in Helldivers 2
Scout Striders are a part of The Automaton Collective, a group of mindless, bloodthirsty robots. You can find Scout Striders on any Automaton planet, ie, the ones on the western side of the Galaxy Map. They can appear on any difficulty level, but naturally, the higher the difficulty, the more powerful enemies will spawn, which means more Scout Striders. The chances of Scout Striders appearing on Trivial difficulty are pretty slim.
What Are Scout Striders
A Scout Strider is a bipedal walker vehicle, basically a piloted turret with legs. Their official description is: “The Scout Strider is a machine operated by a machine, a walking turret guided by the limited intelligence of an Automaton Trooper. Another fruitless attempt to ape true intelligence, in this case by exercising master over a machine even more primitive than themselves.”
As already mentioned, Scout Striders are two-legged, armored, gun turrets, operated by an Automaton driver. The gun itself is a double-barreled laser cannon, and the driver is protected by a large frontal armor panel, covering that covers him completely.
Where to Find Scout Striders
They can be found regularly on the map, usually as a part of a patrol. Moreover, when some Automaton calls in a Dropship, chances are some Scout Striders will drop from there. So, if you are on the hunt for Scout Striders, consider playing on a higher difficult level and that will increase the chances for and the number of Scout Striders. Once you do encounter one of them, how to bring it down?
- Enlist in the Helldivers and join the fight for freedom across a hostile galaxy in a fast, frantic, and ferocious third-person shooter.
- Become a Legend – You will be assembled into squads of up to four Helldivers and assigned strategic missions. Watch each other’s back – friendly fire is an unfortunate certainty of war, but victory without teamwork is impossible.

Best Ways to Kill Scout Striders in Helldivers 2
A Scout Strider is composed of a heavily protected turret with a laser gun, standing on two legs, piloted by an Automaton. They’re usually followed by some Automaton grunts, to make the job of dispatching one way harder than it should be. The shots from its gun are quite powerful so you should move around or seek cover. If you get close, it will try to stomp you.
Weak Points
Scout Striders have one real weak point: the pilot. The pilot is protected from the front, but quite exposed from the back and the sides. The most effective way is to surround it and make it expose its pilot to some of your squad members. Or try to sneak up from the sides or from behind. A couple of well-placed shots into the pilot will finish the job quickly and render the walker useless. If you look carefully, the top of the driver’s head can be seen over the armored panel. Try to aim carefully, because single shot will blow its head off, and the walker will simply fall.
If you’re unable to move around it, or there are no other teammates to help you, you can fire at its legs. Use the best armor-piercing weapons you have and target one of its legs. After a couple of shots, the leg will be destroyed and the Scout Strider will fall, unable to hold its weight with just one leg remaining.
Best Weapons for Scout Striders
Lighter weapons will do next to nothing against Streider’s legs, so be sure to use some higher-caliber ones (like the Machine Gun or Autocannon). Calling in an Orbital Strike can one-shot a Scout Strider if timed well.
A Railgun Stratagem, or any providing you with a powerful armor-piercing weapon, can give you the ability to one-shot Scout Strider’s legs and thus eliminate them quickly. For instance, we found Autocannons extremely efficient in this. A grenade thrown between its legs will dispatch a Strider easily.
