Does Helldivers 2 Have a Matchmaking System?

What can you do if you need some teammates, and none of your friends are playing? Does Helldivers 2 have a matchmaking system? Let see.

Helldivers 2 has been released today, and thousands of players flock to defend the Managed Democracy. This game is a co-op squad-based shooter, where you and up to three of your friends can play together. You need all the support you can get to defend Super Earth from various alien threats. But, what happens if you don’t have anyone available to play with you? You can always go solo, but what if you really want teammates to play with? Does Helldivers 2 have a matchmaking system of sorts?

Does Helldivers 2 Have a Matchmaking System?

Yes, being a game based on cooperative play, a matchmaking system is mandatory for Helldivers 2. When you are gearing up for a mission, you have empty slots to invite players from your friends list. But, if none are available, what can you do?

You can set your Quickmatch game to Public/Open, so other players, who are looking for the same mission you are, can join you. Additionally, it seems that you can search for players in-game, in case someone drops out. Moreover, it is likely you can stay in the same squad after the mission ends, and continue playing with the same people.

Can You Join Other Games?

Yes, you can. While the specific method for doing so is still unknown to us, it is probably through the Quickplay screen. You’ll probably have a list of available missions that other players are hosting and that are set to Public, that you can join. We’ll update this segment as soon as we get info on how it works exactly.
