Can you play the latest Helldivers game with friends over different platforms? Does Helldivers 2 have crossplay? Read on and find out.
In Helldivers 2 you can team up with up to three other players and enjoy this chaotic shooter. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Helldivers 2 moves away from the top-down view of its first installment and is a third-person shooter this time. But, the core of the game remains the same. You and a squad of your mates drop down into a hostile environment, guns blazing, taking down bugs, cyborgs, and the like. You are the Galaxy’s last line of offense. But, is playing over different platforms something that the Galaxy can overcome? Does Helldivers 2 have fully supported crossplay? Let’s see.
Does Helldivers 2 Have Crossplay?
Yes, playing over different platforms will not stand in your way of bringing Managed Democracy to the entire universe. PC players and PlayStation 5 players can join forces and play Helldivers 2 together with no trouble at all. You can even see whether the person is on PlayStation or PC, in your Socials screen.
Katherine Baskin, the Social Media and Community Manager of Arrowhead Game Studios, said on PlayStations’s official blog: “Community and teamwork are the most important pillars of Helldivers 2, and so it is essential to ensure players can work together regardless of the system they choose to use. Together we can celebrate victories, mourn losses, and liberate the galaxy without platform boundaries.”
- Enlist in the Helldivers and join the fight for freedom across a hostile galaxy in a fast, frantic, and ferocious third-person shooter.
- Become a Legend – You will be assembled into squads of up to four Helldivers and assigned strategic missions. Watch each other’s back – friendly fire is an unfortunate certainty of war, but victory without teamwork is impossible.
- Loadouts – Rain down freedom from above, sneak through enemy territory, or grit your teeth and charge head-first into the jaws of combat. How you deliver liberty is your choice; you’ll have access to a wide array of explosive firepower, life-saving armour and battle-changing stratagems… the jewel in every Helldiver’s arsenal.
- Requisition – Super Earth recognises your hard work with valuable Requisition. Use it to access different rewards that benefit you, your squad, your destroyer ship and our overall war effort.
- Threats – Everything on every planet wants you dead. That’s what we’re dealing with. Each enemy has distinct and unpredictable characteristics, tactics, and behaviour – but they all fight ferociously and without fear or morality.
Does Helldivers 2 Have Cross-Progression?
Unfortunately, for now, cross-progression and cross-save are not supported for Helldivers 2. Your progress on different platforms does not carry over. But, this is subject to change in the future, as the devs said that these features are not supported “on launch”
Even after a couple of months since the release, there is no word on when will crossprog be enabled.
How to Toggle Crossplay On/Off
Crossplay is a feature that you can turn off if you do not want it, and vice versa. To do so, go to the Options menu, and there, in the Gameplay subsection, you will see the Crossplay option. Click on it to change its current status.
Having Crossplay turned Off means that you will only play with other people who use the same platform as you do: PC players with other PC players, PlayStation players with other PS users.
