Is a new faction on the way? Read on to see when is The Illuminate coming to Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 is a sequel to the original Helldivers game from 2015. It follows the same pattern as its predecessor where you and up to three of your friends fight various alien enemies. Only this time, instead of being top-down, the game is a third-person shooter. It also has the same enemies, with Terminids and The Automatons being present in Helldivfers 2. But, the first game had The Illuminate faction, which is not present in the sequel. But, more and more rumors and leaks are pointing toward The Illuminate coming to Helldivers 2, so when is that happening? Let’s see.
When Is the New Faction The Illuminate Coming to Helldivers 2?
At the moment, the introduction of The Illuminate is still a rumor, and the devs gave us no word about it. There is absolutely no official info on when or can we expect this new faction to come to Helldivers 2. But, some data miners have found certain info pointing to The Illuminate. Moreover, a few players mention that they have seen some peculiar glowing lights, not seen before, while defending Tien Kwan. Lastly, during one of the broadcasts on your ship, concerning The Automatons, on the news ticker (the area with the scrolling headlines at the bottom of the screen) you can see the following headline: “Rumors of Illuminate sightings are work of dissidents”. Everything points towards The Illuminate coming to the game, especially with the new leaks.
The Illuminate Rumors and Leaks
Earlier, data miners found some data concerning The Illuminate. For example, Redditor stodal came across some interesting information while looking into game files. He found:

As time passed, more and more tidbits and leaks appeared, in the form of sightings, news reports, and claims that the coming of The Illuminate is a lie. We all know how that turned out the last time.
Most recently, we heard a rumor of a news broadcast that states that an Illuminate ship has been sighted, and data miners have found data indicating a few Illuminate kills on Super Earth and Cyberstan. None of those planets had any player activity on them so that probably means that the devs are trying out the new faction.
Now, with the Automatons wiped out from the Galactic Map, things are a little too quiet. We expect that the reveal of The Illuminate will happen any day now, probably somewhere around the release of the new Warbond.

Who Are The Illuminate
The Illuminate are a third enemy faction that players encountered in the original Helldivers game. They are a super-advanced squid-like aquatic race that calls themselves Squ’ith. They have advanced psychic and telepathic powers, and fight using nano-tech and electric weapons.
