None of those planets had any player activity on them so that probably means that the devs are trying out the new faction. On May 11, on a Reddit page called HelldiversLeaks, there emerged an image of an Illuminate render, which is most likely how those aliens will look like in Helldivers 2.

Also on 11, Pilestedt tweeted “Imagine if there was a predator-like alien species in the Helldivers universe that were exiled from the galaxy that were planning vengeance!” We all know that they purposefully give us crumbs of information, and quickly deny everything, just to keep us on our toes.

Right now, the most popular rumor is that the Illuminate will appear following the destruction of Meridia by a back hole. The planet Meridia was destroyed on June 2 and turned into a black hole, so if the rumors are true, we can expect the Illuminate to make an appearance very soon.

Who Are The Illuminate

The Illuminate are a third enemy faction that players encountered in the original Helldivers game. They are a super-advanced squid-like aquatic race that calls themselves Squ’ith. They have advanced psychic and telepathic powers, and fight using nano-tech and electric weapons.
