How to Find and Kill Shriekers in Helldivers 2

The first flying enemies have been introduced to the game. Read on to see how to find and kill Shriekers in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 is a co-op sci-fi shooter, where you and your squad fight against various alien enemies. On top of that, it has a growing community, and the developers, Arrowhead Game Studios, are paying attention to feedback from the players. There were some complaints about the durability of some enemies, and that has been remedied. Little did we know that a new enemy type had been added, to balance things out. So, let’s welcome Shriekers, the first flying enemy in the game. On that note, let’s see how to find and kill Shriekers in Helldivers 2.

How to Find Shriekers in Helldivers 2

Shriekers are Terminids and thus can be found on Terminid-infested planets. Those are the ones on the eastern side of the galaxy map. But, Shriekers are not a common type of Terminids. Rather, just like Stalkers, they appear on maps that have “Shrieker Nests” as a Secondary Objective. That means that the map has to have Secondary Objectives in the first place, so they cannot appear on “defense” missions.

What Are Shriekers

Shriekers are the first flying Terminids in Helldivers 2. They resemble Terminid Scavengers but with large wings which they use to perform fly-by attacks on unsuspecting Helldivers.

Where to Find Shriekers

Shriekers are not found roaming around as other Terminids. They will start appearing and attacking as you approach their Nest. Those nests look like groups of three huge glowing mushrooms. Naturally, if the mission does not have Shrieker Nests as one of its Secondary Objectives, then you won’t be able to find any Shrikers.

Some missions, like the new Deploy Dark Fluid, will spawn a flock of Shrieker at one point, so they are not 100% secondary-mission-only.

Thankfully, the Shriekers are easy to beat. As they are closely related to the smaller Terminid strains, a couple of hits from any weapon should bring them down. Their greatest weapon is their ability to fly. That makes them highly mobile and so they are harder to hit with explosives and shotguns with shorter ranges. That also means that they won’t be affected by burning terrain, not unless they somehow fly too low and set themselves on fire.

Note that a killed Shrieker will deal damage on anything that it falls on, so keep your distance and leap out of the way if necessary.

We found that Machine Gun and Gatling Sentries are effective against them. As for Support weapons, the Airburst Rocket Launcher is great for destroying flocks of Shriekers in one go, but be careful not to destroy your team as well.
