Commands (also known as console commands or slash commands) are certain features players can use to control their Minecraft experience even more. Although some players consider them to be cheats, others use them as a way to increase their personal enjoyment.

We’re here with an entire list of all the console commands you can use in Minecraft, as well as the effect you can expect them to have in your game.

Minecraft Console Commands List 

  • /? (or /help)
    • Provides help in regard to commands.
  • /ability
    • Used to either grant or revoke a specific player’s ability
  • /advancement
    • Used to grant, revoke, or check a player’s advancements.
  • /alwaysday (or /daylock)
    • Locks the server’s day and night cycle to what it currently is. Using it again unlocks it.
  • /attribute
    • Questions, adds, removes, or sets the attribute of something.
  • /ban
    • Adds a player to the server ban list.
  • /ban-ip
    • Adds the mentioned IP address to the server ban list.
  • /banlist
    • Displays the server banlist.
  • /bossbar
    • Used to create or modify bossbars.
  • /camerashake
    • Used to enable or disable the camera shake effect.
  • /changesetting
    • Used to change the settings of the server while it’s still running.
  • /clear
    • Clears all the items from a player’s inventory.

  • /clearspawnpoint
    • Removes all spawn points in a world.
  • /clone
    • Copies blocks from one place to another.
  • /connect (or /wsserver)
    • Used to enable the connecting to WebSocket server.
  • /damage
    • Applies damage to the mentioned or specified entities.
  • /data
    • Gets, merges, modifies, and removes block entity and entity NBT data
  • /datapack
    • Controls the data packs that have been loaded.
  • /debug
    • Starts a debugging session. Entering the command again stops the ongoing debugging session.
  • /dedicatedwsserver
    • Attempts to connect to the WebSocket server.
  • /defaultgamemode
    • Sets the game mode to the default game mode (game mode 5)
  • /deop
    • Revokes operator status from a specified player.
  • /dialogue
    • Opens NPC dialogues for a player.
  • /difficulty
    • Sets the difficulty level for the session.
  • /effect
    • Adds or removes a status effect.
  • /enchant
    • Adds whatever enchantment the players want to a specific item.
  • /event
    • Used to trigger a specific event.
  • /execute
    • Executes another command.
  • /experience (or /xp)
    • Adds or removes experience for a player.
  • /fill
    • Fills an area or region with a specific type of block.
  • /fillbiome
    • Fills an area or region with a specific type of biome.
  • /fog
    • Used for managing fox related settings for players.
  • /forceload
    • Enables or disables the forceful loading of chunks.
  • /function
    • Allows players to run a function.
  • /gamemode
    • Sets a player’s game mode (survival, for example).
  • /gamerule
    • Sets or answers questions related to the value of a set rule.
  • /gametest
    • Used to test the GameTest feature.
  • /give
    • Gives an item to a player.
  • /immutableworld
    • Allows setting immutable state of the world.
  • /item
    • Changes, adds or removes items in a player’s inventory.
  • /jfr
    • Starts a JFR profiling. Can also be used to stop it.
  • /kick
    • Kicks a specified player from the server.
  • /kill
    • Kills a specified player, mob, or other entity.
  • /list
    • Lists all players in the server.
  • /locate
    • Locates the closest structure, biome, or whatever else the player specifies.
  • /loot
    • Drops items from an inventory slot onto the ground.
  • /me
    • Displays a message about the sender.
  • /mobevent
    • Enables or disables a specified mob event.
  • /msg (or either /tell or /w)
    • Displays a private message to other players.
  • /music
    • Used to control the music tracks.
  • /op
    • Used to grant operator status for a player.
  • /ops (or /permission)
    • Reloads and applies permissions to players.
  • /pardon
    • Removes entries from the server ban list.
  • /pardon-ip
    • Removes IP address entries from the server ban list.
  • /particle
    • Used to create particles.
  • /perf
    • Captures info and metrics about the game for 10 seconds then displays them to the player.
  • /place
    • Used to place a specified structure at the location.
  • /playanimation
    • Used to run an animation.
  • /playsound
    • Used to play a sound.
  • /publish
    • Opens the single player world to the public.
  • /recipe
    • Gives or takes recipes from players.
  • /reload
    • Reloads functions from disk such as loot tables.
  • /remove
    • Removes whatever the player specifies.
  • /replaceitem
    • Replace items in a player’s inventory with other items.
  • /ride
    • Used to perform everything regarding riding.
  • /save
    • Used to either prepare a backup save ot answer when the last save was.
  • /save-all
    • Saves the server to a disc.
  • /save-off
    • Disables auto save for the server.
  • /save-on
    • Enables auto save for the server.
  • /say
    • Displays a message to all the players on the server.
  • /schedule
    • Sets the execution of a specific function.
  • /scoreboard
    • Used to manage the server scoreboard.
  • /seed
    • Displays the world seed.
  • /setblock
    • Changes the selected block to a different block.
  • /setidletimeout
    • Sets the time before idle players are kicked from the server.
  • /setmaxplayers
    • Sets the maximum number of players allowed in the server.
  • /setworldspawn
    • Sets the spawn point of players in the server.
  • /spawnpoint
    • Sets the spawn point for a specific player in the server.

    • Make a player switch to spectator mode.
