Want to check out this awesome light machine gun? This article will explain how to get and use the M-105 Stalwart in Helldivers 2.

With almost 15 Support Weapons to choose from in Helldivers 2, there is definitely the right tool for every situation. While most Support Weapons are used for dealing with heavier enemies, some excel at clearing chaff. Such as the M-105 Stalward, a light version of the Machine Gun. Every Helldiver starts with the standard (but still powerful) MG-43 Machine Gun, so why would opt to use the weaker version of it? You’re about to find out. Read on to see how to get and use the Stalwart in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2: How to Get the M-105 Stalwart

Stalwart is one of the first Stratagems that you can get. But first, you have to unlock it, if you haven’t already done so. From your Ship Management terminal, select the Stratagems tab, and in the first subsection, Patriotic Administration Center, you find the M-105 Stalwart. It is the third one from the top.

You have to be at least Level 2 to unlock it, and it also costs 3500 Requisitions to do so. Remember to select the Stalwart as one of your Stratagems, when you choose your Loadout

First, like any other Support Weapon, you have to call it in from your Destroyer. Open your Stratagems menu (Ctrl by default on PCs, L1 on PS5), and type in the code for the Stalwart (Down, Left, Down, Up, Up, Left). Throw the beacon where you want your weapon to land, and after a few seconds, your light machine gun will arrive.

Even though we do not have the exact stats for Support Weeapons, we can safely say that Stalwart has 150 rounds per magazine, and Light Armor Penetrating trait. The regular MG-43 Machine gun can deal with medium armor to some extent, so why would you pick the lighter Stalwart instead of the Machine Gun?

One reason is that, unlike the Machine Gun, you can reload Stalwart on the go. That is incredibly useful if you are chased by hordes of enemies, where stopping for a couple of seconds to reload will get you killed. The other reason is that it is handled more easily than its more powerful counterparts. It has a lesser recoil and behaves better on the go. The downside is the smaller caliber (ie, deals less damage) and the inability to pierce anything other than Light armor.

It is great against Terminds, who are rarely armored and tend to come in groups. With 150 rounds, you can hold the fire button to your heart’s content. It can effectively deal with any bug other than the armored Hive Guard and heavies, where you have to aim for the weak spots. It is not that great versus Automatons, who tend to be well-armored. Plus, it is not that accurate that you can reliably aim for their weak spots, ie, heads.

Summary

In conclusion, Stalwart is a good choice for dealing with anything other than heavies, on the go. Pair it up with the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank and you’re good to go. Quite effective against bugs, but not so against Automatons. It is arguably the best weapon when you just want to farm Medals and Super Credits in those low-difficulty missions.
