I haven't been anticipating an update so much since... no, never mind, I haven't ever anticipated an update so much, mostly because i cannot wait for Pac-Man CE DX. Auditorium also looks awesome, and there's the surprise Lennon album on RB. Cool.

That is a truly unreadable Google translation! It's cool that we're seeing the results of a study, but holy cow, that's some confusing wording right there...

I like this list a bunch, although I already have the games I'm most interested in. I think most gamers would benefit from getting FF: Dissidia at $10! Sure, at first it looks a little weird- it's a stats-based offshoot of a franchise that's been a little beaten down as of late, but once you get into it, you'll be hooked. Because of the ridiculous amount of customization in the game, you could easily get 80+ hrs. out of it if you like it that much.

Not sure what it means, but it's obviously directing you to a mobile-designed site. Possibly a phone-related announcement?

Well, he forgot to include Sin and Punishment 2 in his argument... http://www.youtube.com/watc...

And then there's the Bit.Trip series...

Not to mention it has a pretty-close-to-perfect version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. That game's...

Considering From Software is working on a project that hasn't been marked as Demon's Souls but is some sort of successor to Demon's Souls, and the US audience really put Demon's Souls on the map in a big way, I wouldn't be surprised if that's where they announced it. It's altogether possible that Sony is backing From up on this one and has the ad dollars to get the official name for the game and a bit of footage out there.

That said, given the a...

@Firelogic, I agree 100%. If you liked Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, why would you let Ninja Theory get anywhere near one of the flagship games of that hack-and-slash genre? This deal is like handing the NES Ninja Gaiden franchise to LJN. Maybe they'll pull through, but they'd really have to go beyond their normal output to make a great DMC game.

Like "fire most of your creative staff and management, re-make Ninja Theory, then try to make DMC" beyond....

It's not time for that yet. Pac-Man CE DX will certainly take at least one GOTY (out of the zillions that are awarded each year), even if it's only the "We're going to be a both different and intelligent review outlet this year, so we're picking this instead" GOTY or the "We totally respect the retro crowd that still values skill as a gaming necessity, so this is a political move in favor of you" GOTY. I'll smile when that happens.

I ...

The fixed article is still meh, but I've gotta hand it to the writer for LEGO LEGO Harry Potter. I thought it was a typo at first, but he did manage to go Meta-LEGO, which was awesome, if only for one entry.

I think a good one would have been LEGO Synecdoche, New York. Not only is the game composed of legos, but the legos are composed of a simulated game composed of legos, which has various simulated games within those simulated games, which have legos that are composed...

To me, that's great news. When the first video of someone with the retail copy came out, viewers noticed some ungodly loading times before you got to the track. I commented at the time that I hope there's an optional install that wasn't in effect on the video, and that I had all the space in the world (thanks to the open HDD standard on PS3's) to put the entire game on there if need be - I'll let it bake for 40 minutes in order to make that happen.

Ser...

This is the question of the decade, isn't it? Are review scores from an outlet supposed to measure how good a game is compared to another game in a completely different field with a completely different production budget with a different price, or should they measure how well the game does what it sets out to do?

I agree with the latter, especially in the case of an arcade-style game with a $10 tag and awesome production values for the price, and Hatfield apparently agre...

It's definitely Kevin Butler at the moment. He manages to personify so many things about modern gaming that differ from what came before: the older video game audience (older than what Amazon was thinking of when they put video games in the "toys" category), the nature of AAA games needing big money and corporations behind them (VP of -fill in the blanks-), the passion that modern gamers have for their hobby ("Gaming is staying up all night to get a trophy that isn't ...

Sev, does anyone have a clue as to the release of Pac-Man CE: DX? Some outlets say November, some say December, some say Q4, some say "this Fall" which hardly makes any sense now.

Also, do you mean Sonic Wings Special? I'm not sure that Social Wings Special is... well, a thing...

Nice of you to ask. I've been playing Soldner X-2: Final Prototype with the new The Last Chapter expansion. It's a wonderful game, and it's up there with the best shmups of this generation. Unlike the single-player in the titles you mentioned, the game actually demands a bit of skill on the player's part.

Anyway, if you have a PS3 (and why else would you be desperately asking that question, right?), go get it. It's a ton of fun for a quarter of the c...

I'm more appalled that they included anything from the new part of the History album in this game. I thought the world officially un-listened to everything on that first tape/CD. It was the whiniest, most annoying stuff that someone considered a great songwriter could ever produce!

Well, okay, Scream was good, but not this song!

I just can't believe that this whole analysis even took place. He goes through all the different aspects of the controllers, but neither of these is a "bargain" at all. If you're looking at $100-$150 for a controller that's relatively new with a small amount of gimmicky games supporting it on both sides, you're paying the early-adopter luxury tax.

The "better bargain" is to wait until these controllers have some games that don't just ...

I like the whole quote, but I can't help but think "Then why the heck aren't you making something like Ico? You're a project manager with plenty of cash to spend, so why can't you make that decision and hire some creative staff? What, is some overarching company paying you too much money to dumb the Adventure RPG genre down to toddler-level? Oh wait..."

Here's an idea: Take some advice from Demon's Souls and go back to making games that c...

"competition = making a better game system.
no competition = not even trying at all."

True, but I'd rather see some competition between companies that foster creativity from both their first- and third-party studios, not just making money on "blockbuster" samey titles - Microsoft touted exactly these at E3 this year. I wasn't interested in any of those. I wanted a real reason to go out and get an Xbox360, and I found nothing but itera...

What is that, Mushihimesama? That's definitely not impossible, you just have to know where the hitbox is on the ship, know the patterns the bullets are taking, and, as Peppy once said, "Use bombs wisely!"

Is it easy? Heck no, but that's what continues are for. You know, those things we used to have before we got games where you hardly ever died. Some people play these things so much that they can best the entire game in one credit, but that's just ...

I love the way they do varying elevation in this track - if there's a slightly raised left side of the road around a corner, you see it, and there's definitely an effect on how you treat the corner. They're painstakingly recreating how it is to actually be on a course instead of some flat map with a few elevation gimmicks. I'm watching a streaming video of a guy playing a racing game, and somehow I still feel immersed in that game.

The loading time, however....
