Clizzz is right. A Fanboy orgy would be... Oh no, make the mental image go away!!! Cannot un-see!!!
I could go on and on about what I'd like to see, but I was just guessing on what would happen, not the Einhander/Vagrant Story/Xenogears sequel that I'd *want* to happen.
Plus, Square (Eidos) just announced a Tomb Raider reboot after my post... could be that.
Interesting idea! So long as it's fun, I don't have a problem with it.
However, I really don't like how they just Rocky Balboa'd the title of the game. Now you've got Tomb Raider on PS1 and Tomb Raider on the newer systems. So what will we actually call it five years from now? Tomb Raider 2011? Heck, at least Nolan's crew had the decency to name their first reboot title "Batman Begins" and not just "Batman." Could you imagine ...
An announcement at JF? I'm guessing FF Tactics for the 3DS. Big deal, but not *too* big. And yeah, that would be a wonderful announcement!
The commenters on there make me actually thankful that N4G exists. Who could forget such wonderful comments as "Sonic the headgog from sega master system"?
Wow. I remember Sonic the Headgog - what a messed-up game! It traumatized most of my friends for life. I guess that's why it was the only Master System game that was banned on 37 planets. I can't believe I played it and still live.
I like that, if only for the kitsch value of knowing that a company actually built a PS2 into a TV way after the heyday of the PS2! Imagine if there were a white-and-orange Dreamcast TV?
Sure, it's not some super-hardcore modern masterpiece (you can't even get 1080p on it), but it's something that might be held on to in its original box by somebody for about 15 years, then sold at an auction (or auction site) for a bunch of cash.
They're just trying to stay relevant by glomming on to other people's creations instead of being creative themselves. Actually, it's a step up - when they're trying to be creative, you get things like the "Save the Whales" billboard in CA.
Is anyone troubled that PETA just ripped IP from a small developer and hosted it on their site? There's parody, and then there's taking characters outright.
Regardless, I think what the SMB team did was an awesome way to resolve the issue - they had already created Tofu Boy anyway, so they just put him in.
Yeah, ParadiseLost, you really need to pick this up. I haven't even gone through all the stages yet, as I've picked up this weird tendency to at least have an S rank on each 5-minute run. The way they do these leaderboards makes it a surprisingly robust experience!
Quagmire, you bring up one awesome point, and that point is Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Awesome game. I almost didn't think of it as a movie-game because the visual style's a lot more in line with the comic than the movie.
Akagi, I see where you're going with this, but that's not what Gibeau and EA are saying. They're saying the business for them is falling apart.
"The percentage royalties you have to pay the licensors are going the wrong way for publishers. The margins are being squeezed. And, to top it all off, the movie-game business is falling apart."
The article clearly states that it's all money and no morals here; if it was still profitable to ...
The whole thing? Should I sit here for that long and just simulate the time it would take to get through all the movements?
I'm not a fan of your labeling, but I know what you're getting at, and at a baseline level, I agree. Just keep in mind that some of the people that appear to be young actually aren't - they're just kinda that way, and some of the youngest people on the site could be the most inspired posters around. This guy says outright that he's a "youngling fresh on the gaming scene," and you're agreeing with his post, after all.
Good stuff. I like a blogger that can provide ideas using mostly-okay grammar, and you don't typically see that here.
You might want to look back into the history of video games and the businesses behind them. Check out Atari, E.T.: The Game, and the crash of 1983. This is what brought about the need for editor-controlled reviews - no one knew what to buy because there were way too many shovelware games out there, and a marketing campaign pulled gamers to buy total cra...
No mention of Pac-Man CE DX for any category whatsoever. Tumble is in the running for best PSN game. What the heck is going on here? I think they started the awards a bit too early.
So, you won't mind when we eat your bubbles, then. Consider it done, as you've given us plenty of reason in that paragraph.
Exclusionary? Just play through all the tutorials and you'll be rewarded with an awesome game. Gee, it's as if there's an entire generation of people who feel entitled to gratification, not understanding how rewarding a little effort can be... nah, that doesn't exist, right?
The rough thing about all this is that Nathan Drake was created with Nathan Fillion as a reference point. They even made the connection blatant with the first name. For many of us gamers who also follow Joss, Fillion was the only guy for this role... well, other than Nolan North. Anything involving Nathan Fillion not getting the role would definitely result in a bit of nerd rage!
I have no clue what he's talking about. What about Inception, The Social Network, Scott Pilgrim, Kick-Ass, heck, even the latest Potter flick, they were great! If Thornton has a problem with those movies, he's just getting a bit senile.
Who was saying this stuff when Big Momma's House was tops at the box office?
I smell a 1up-ocalypse 2. This won't end well for the IGN senior writers. Give the guys in charge the holidays to chill out and do nothing, and then see what happens in Q1 2011.
On the good side of things, doesn't this mean that NewsCorp (aka Fox) doesn't own IGN anymore? You know, the same company that hosts Fox and Friends, a show where non-gaming old people rampantly disparage games for extremely silly and often-invalid reasons?
