This is an ambiguous subject. This professor quoted in the article and people here have to be cautious about perching on either extreme and ranting, because what's about to happen is beyond us.
The closest thing that comes to arguing for GeoHot's jailbreaking comes from the US Copyright Office and the Librarian of Congress: http://www.copyright.gov/12... ...
It's a sad day when all Rock Band has to offer is Linkin Park, and I've heard those Harmonix guys talk about music - it must be a sad day for them too.
However, the arrival of Prinny 2 is more than substantial for quite a few gamers. I'm definitely looking forward to it!
Gotta agree here. Torchlight is a perfect short game for the PC - it's a point-and-click deal that runs on low-end systems pretty easily. It's a nice counterpoint to the bigger time-sinks on the PC like WoW, the Civ series, DoTA, TF2, etc. I'd much rather play graphics-intensive and precision D-pad demanding games on a PS3, and I'd much rather play third-person shooters and multiplayer-type stuff on an Xbox360. I have a Wii for Sin and Punishment 2 alone. Worth every cent...

First of all, your username is priceless.
Second of all, go find a kid that can beat this, and I'll find a kid that's playing Nintendo Hard games the way they used to be played when I was a kid:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the perfect example of what should be happening in the wake of so many reports of failed/underperforming games that were hindered by an overinvestment in graphics/engine creation and an underinvestment in content creation. Here's the SMG2 recipe:
1. Basically take the graphics/gameplay foundations of your previously successful game, spruce it up just a bit, and leave it alone.
2. Give the tools to a bunch of creative staff and s...
"Me fail English? That's unpossible!"
This is a funny video, but it's old. March 2010 old. That's not news.
I think what they meant to do was announce the finale, which came out on New Year's Eve, but that's not here. Here's the finale link: http://spoonyexperiment.com...
Agreed. That game isn't just balanced, amazing to control, and deep, it also just oozes charm. It screams nostalgic 90's kitsch with the rap tune at the selection screen, the soundtrack goes from acid jazz to Carmina Burana-ish stuff, the animation looks like it was done painstakingly frame-by-frame, the character designs are ridiculous and original, the move selection mechanic is quick, easy, and understandable, the parry system changed fighting games as we knew them... We could al...
I'm not one of the disagree-ers, but:
"If all goes according to plan, the team is expecting to have the translation complete and an English patch released sometime this year."
I get your point that it's a labor of love, and these things can be set back by a family emergency or something, but they're also dedicated fans. Just one of these guys probably has the rigor of ten hired hands for a typical localization. When they set a goal, th...
You know, if you're a Ratchet fan, you may do well by looking on something like Steam for the PC version of Psychonauts. It's a great platformer that flew well under the radar when it was released. If you can find it, there's also a last-gen console version.
The article doesn't support/attack any point toward a PC vs. Console argument. It just showed the most sold games on Steam during that section of the big holiday sale. For example, the list was very su...
Yeah, they really don't mention a source anywhere. I've seen other "Top 10 Most Sold Games" lists from Steam before, but I can't get a bead on where they get this stuff from. Anyone?
It's Steam, dude. Look it up. It's a nice way of getting some good PC games on the cheap, especially during these sales. Think of it as an iTunes for PC games, and you'll get the idea. There are also a few other content delivery services out there, like Impulse and Good Old Games, that you should also check out.
I've been waiting for Xenogears and Vagrant Story for way, way, way too long, and I'm glad that they're finally going to find a new audience through PSN! Besides the point that they should have released these four years ago, I'm content with that, but wait a minute... what do we have here...
R4!!!! That's up there in my top five PS1 games ever, and it's the best Ridge Racer by far. The soundtrack alone is worth the purchase. So excited. For me, all...
This is pretty cool, because the level editor/portal thing really shows its roots in Newgrounds, just like where the creators started out (before Gish, there were quite a few things they made on there, and there's even the prototype "Meat Boy" on the site). Calling the hub the "Portal" is a huge Newgrounds reference, and having it be arranged by difficulty, date, and rating is pretty much what's been going on in the Flash Portal for many years.
Ahhhh! Good catch. Bubs, bub.
This is disturbing, but also understandable. Super Meat Boy is an awesome, awesome game, and I was so lucky to catch it on sale on Steam. I've read up on why the heck Meat never made it to PSN, and it's depressing. I could go for days on why the key demographic for PS3 gamers would really line up with what SMB does, but my wrists would develop carpal tunnel syndrome at some point.
That's the point I'm getting to, though. That game isn't made for Gamest...
Arc Rise Fantasia sure looks a lot like Grandia 2. Despite Grandia 2 getting a lot of flak from writers these days, I loved it - maybe I'll check this out. The bad voice acting will just make the Grandia 2 similarities that much bigger.
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor is awesomely awesome. If you love games like Panzer Dragoon or DoDonPachi, love great soundtracks, and you don't have this game, go buy it. If you don't have a Wii, go buy it for this game. <...
This is definitely a personal "These are my top 5 games that I've played this year, because I don't have infinite money or time" list, not an authoritative "I'm the omnipotent Video Game Master" list, and that's fine. It doesn't have much in the way of content, but at least here's someone bucking the norm and advocating for DeathSpank getting some sort of award. That's cool with me.
New rule though: if you're going to ment...
I'm surprised at the lack of dark-horse titles in this year's awards roundup. Uncharted 2 ran away with GOTY the year before, but it was great to see some outlets give it to Demon's Souls. This year, it's pretty much split between RDR and ME2, which are great games, but it would have been nice to see some smaller outfits get a piece of the pie, like the teams behind Pac-Man CE: DX or Super Meat Boy.
A bunch of great titles got pushed to this year, and we hav...
