Players were amazed that Season 3 of The Finals brought many cool items and among them, one weapon probably received the most attention. Unfortunately, the fans were left wanting more. Given that the weapon showed a lot of potential in The Finals S03 trailer, the players are now asking for the upcoming patch (scheduled for June 26) to fix it.
Why Does the Popular New Weapon Need a Fix?
Of course, the weapon in question is the Dual Blades. Developers noted that you should be able to block the bullets with them and ricochet them right back at the player attacking you. The idea alone is great, players were really looking forward to trying that out. Unfortunately, the execution wasn’t nearly as satisfying.
Konigni explained: “Today I was using them and in the enemy’s face deflecting their bullets and they weren’t even taking damage”. Magnusjiao agreed: “Deflect has never been reliable for me. I think I can count a total of 2 total kills it’s ever gotten me in all the time I’ve sunk into Dual Blades”.
The same player added: “What should be buffed about Dual Blades is how it promotes good movement, which it honestly doesn’t really do right now, even though some Melee mains have committed to it regardless of how much it sucks”.
Another player, brandvold_cubed, shared their wishes. They noted: “I want the Dual Blades to be so good. We just need to figure out how to make it in line with the riot shield. As it stands the riot shield is better at blocking and doesn’t punish your movement. Love the idea of a charged-up attack based on bullets blocked for the third set of swings”.
Several players pointed out that the Dual Blades deserved the same Sprint Buff the Riot Shield had received. One of the players, -MC-ZelDuh-, added: “I should not be able to be outrun by someone holding S. Also the big hit at the end needs to do more or at least the same amount as the previous swings. There is no point in it existing otherwise”.
Some of The Finals Players Worry a Patch Would Make the Weapon OP
Of course, as it often happens, some players disagreed. They probably weren’t users of the Dual Blades. A common reason was the players who were complaining simply lacked skill.
One player, well_rested_cat, said: “It takes some time to get a hold of the way you need to alter your movement as a Medium. Especially since you do not have a lot of movement options. Melee Heavys are a strong counter to Dual Blades. But, you can still win those fights if you use your abilities right”.
Others, like ep-18, thought the Dual Blades would be OP if buffed. This player said: “It’s a very gimmicky weapon. IMO they can’t buff it without it becoming frustrating to play against”. Nixcker added: “Nah I don’t think it needs a buff, what we really need IMO, is a way for Mediums to minimize the distance between them and their opponents”.
In our opinion, sure, skill plays a factor, but it shouldn’t take players weeks to master a move promoted in a trailer. We’d say the Dual Blades deserve a slight buff to become more balanced. The patch notes aren’t available at the time of writing this article, but we’ll find out soon if this The Finals weapon will get the fix it deserves.
