We will soon have access to the Diablo 4 open beta, which is dropping later this week on March 24. However, those who received early access to the beta have now been playing since Friday, and it’s been running about as smoothly as we would expect.

Blizzard Entertainment has brought some new features to the table with Diablo 4, available now in the early access beta. However, some players have had a bit of trouble navigating the game’s controls and mechanics, particularly those relating to combat and weaponry.

Here’s how to switch your weapons in Diablo 4.

How Do You Switch Weapons in Diablo IV?

A handful of new gameplay features have been introduced to the franchise with the drop of Diablo 4’s open beta, many of which have affected in-game combat. Among these new features is the weapon-switching system.

Switching your weapons in the new installment seems to relate to the skills and abilities of your own character, meaning you will not be able to use certain weapons if your character is currently unable to do so based on their skillset.

How To Review Your Character’s Skillset and Weapons:

  • Open your Skills Tree.
  • Hover over any weapon.
  • Look for the script at the bottom of the window, which notes the required skills for that weapon.
  • (EX.) Hammer of the Ancients – Requires a two-handed bludgeoning weapon.

How to Switch Your Character’s Weapons:

  • Open your Abilities tab.
  • Hover over the desired ability in the Skill Bar.
  • Select with the middle button on your mouse (PC), â–¢ (PlayStation), or X (Xbox)

It appears that the Diablo 4 beta also auto-selects weapons based on skills and abilities. This can be de-selected upon choosing your desired skillset.
