There is a weapon that we can only describe as an “arc shotgun”. Read on to see how to get and use ARC-12 Blitzer in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 has a large selection of weapons, and each new Warbond increases that number. The Helldivers Mobilize! has a good all-around choice of weapons, the Steeled Veterans has mostly fire-based stuff, and Cutting Edge offers energy and arc weapons. One of those is the ARC-12 Blitzer, so let’s see how to get it and use it in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2: How to Get the ARC-12 Blitzer

To unlock the ARC-12 Blitzer, you first have to unlock the Cutting Edge Warbond, if you haven’t done so already. It is located on the third page of the Warbond, and you need 80 Medals to unlock it. Once you do so, do not forget to equip the ARC-12 Blitzer as your Primary Weapon, before the mission.

The ARC-12 Blitzer has the following stats:

  • Damage: 250
  • Capacity: Infinite
  • Recoil: 60
  • Fire Rate: 45

Surprisingly, it has no Weapon Traits.

How to Use the ARC-12 Blitzer in Helldivers 2

The ARC-12 Blitzer behaves similarly to the Arc Thrower Support Weapon. You hold the Fire button to charge it up and release it to discharge the lightning in front of you. Specifically, it unleashes three lightning bolts, each dealing significant damage. The plus side is that it prioritizes heads of Terminids, dealing maximum possible damage. Also, it staggers enemies quite a bit. The recoil value is meaningless, as you just have to point it in the general direction of the enemy, not aim. And the best part of the ARC-12 Blitzer is its infinite ammo. That’s right, you can shoot lightning out of this gun all day long, without relying on supplies and ammo packs. Now, let’s look at the downsides.

Unfortunately, the ARC-12 Blitzer has a couple of downsides that keep it from being great. First, it only shoots three lightning bolts that do not arc. Despite what it says in the weapon’s description, you can only hit up to three enemies with this, making it less than ideal against swarms.

Second, the shots from ARC-12 Blitzer deal practically no damage to armored sections. Moreover, when fighting Automatons, it does not prioritize the head, rather it hits them in the middle of the body, where usually most of their armor is. It is good against smaller bots, but against Devastators and all other tougher bots, it is not the best.

Third, the range is quite short, about 30 meters maximum. Lastly, the ARC-12 Blitzer had an abysmal Fire Rate, which has been improved since the release. It is still not the best choice for dealing with hordes, but that made it a more viable choice.

In conclusion, the ARC-12 Blitzer is a great tool for dealing with medium-sized Terminids. If you can pair up with someone who can keep the smaller bugs away, the Blitzer can be a useful addition to the team, especially with the recent changes to bug spawns, where we got an increase in Warrior and Hive Guard numbers.
