DUST 514: How to earn SP

In DUST 514, you advance your skills as a soldier using Skill Points (SP). You are awarded SP at the end of the battle; the amount you earn based on total War Points (WP) earned and time spent in battle. WP are earned by performing a multitude of different actions on the battlefield. Killing is not the most lucrative way to earn points in DUST 514. Here is a breakdown of how to earn WP.

I might get disagrees but I deleted Dust 514 yesterday. I got tired of fighting with the game. Fighting to grasp the concept. Fighting to understand what's going on. Its so much to know. Yesterday after getting frustrated I decided to try one more round. When the round started, the drop pod hit the ground and my screen went black but I can hear the foot steps of my soldier but couldn't see anything. I tapped the PS button and it worked so my tv wasn't the issue. I got so frustrated that I deleted the game. I will go back in a few months and try again. Dust 514 needs more work and it needs to get its act together FAST because if this continues Dust will get overlooked very easy when the PS4 is released.

Sorry you experienced technical difficulties mate :(

In my experience, it's been very smooth sailing on the technical side.

As far as complexity goes, the things you need to understand in order to get in matches and go are not any more complex than what is on offer in say, black ops. Just starting out you automatically have a free infinitely reusable suit for frontline, medic, anti-armor, and sniping roles. Objectives, controls, etc, are no more obtuse than they were in MAG.

If you want to wade around in the shallow end of the pool and play the game like MAG 2 or blops: future wars, I really don't see the bar for entry being impassable.

That said, there is a deeper side to this game, and that can be quite complex indeed, managing loadouts, skills, inventory stockpiles, all require a little more cerebral investment than is the norm. However, they are extremely rewarding once you understand them, yet unnecessary if all that's too much for you.

The really complex parts of the game have yet to be unveiled, we're only on the cusp of integration with eve, the player market is non-existent, clans are only just now getting the ability to vie for control of districts, etc. There is a lot more to come, and most of it is going to be rough to learn, but again, none of it is necessary if you just want to play the game like any other team shooter.

this should be interesting.

Findingcrybabies3014d ago (Edited 3014d ago )

wow. that's messed up. I don't play the game, but shutting it down and then a month after that showing your replacement game after you told the community screw you. LOL. Remind me to never support or play a CCP game. There are games that came out many years before this one and the devs keep the servers up for people.

samden3014d ago

It's on an old console and was nearly dead in the water when it launched. Not much of a community left to anger. Quite frankly, it sucked, and I'm excited to see what the next one will bring.

Tony-Red-Grave3014d ago

From launch to death Dust was only really ever a poor mans M.A.G. God I miss M.A.G and Valor.

Pongwater3014d ago

Dust 514 was free so I don't see your point, but I do find your name ironic.

@Tony - Yeah I still wish for MAG2, or even a PS4 remaster of MAG.

evergrace3014d ago

One of the worst shooter games on ps3.

noxeven3014d ago

I remember them saying it was supposed to contribute to eve and everyone was up in arms and that never happened and it just fell to the way side

Pongwater3014d ago

I'm not sure enough people ever played DUST 514 to say "everyone was up in arms", but there were in fact cross play battles between EVE and DUST.

It was a cool concept with some sizable flaws, but I'd be interested in a sequel that addressed some of those flaws. I thought I heard there was a PS4 version coming, but maybe that's my imagination.

tanukisuit3014d ago

It was definitely ambitious given the tech involved and how late into last gen we were. They tried though and cross gameplay is getting more relevant, so I think not all was lost...

Player-created DUST514 Trailer Calls For EVE:Phoenix

DUST514 players create EVE:Phoenix trailers as part of their #PortDUST514 campaign.

Since the announcement of the DUST514 sequel EVE:Legion by CCP Games at FanFest 2014, there has been an almost eerie silence about the project from the game’s creators. Domains and trademarks were registered, and later left expired, for the EVE:Legion brand, and the player base was left watching as no actual news or progress updates were given by CCP, even at the various player-gatherings or CCP’s own FanFest 2015.

The players of DUST514, both past and current, have rallied under a banner, #PortDUST514, led by Ripley Riley, and are using this hashtag on social media to highlight that there is still a desire for a sequel or a port of the game to a more recent platform than the Playstation 3.
Most recently, this has resulted in the players creating propaganda posters and “memes”, and even voiced trailers, for what they themselves have named EVE:Phoenix.

The player Pokey Dravon, with the help of several other players, created this trailer for the campaign.
