TwoDashStash: "Maxis was founded in 1987 by Will Wright and Jeff Braun to publish SimCity, a game which struggled to garner interest from established publishers due to it lacking any defined win or loss conditions. Despite this, the game went on to become a massive hit with over a million sales worldwide. The success of the first SimCity game lead to multiple spinoff projects, including titles such as the obscure SimRefinery which was commissioned by Chevron and the more familiar SimTower."
