Well, not EVERYTHING. Developers often know games better than gamers do.

wonderfulmonkeyman3667d ago

Agreed.
If we let gamers decide everything including development, it'll turn into one major "Twitch plays Pokemon" cluster-**** of confusion and indecision, which would result in games getting delayed left and right with nothing really getting done.
We'd spend more time sorting out petitions made to counter other petitions about game features than we would actually adding said features to the games.XD

randomass1713666d ago

Haha that'd be hilarious! "Twitch Makes A Video Game." I can see it all now!

Fireseed3667d ago

Agreed. I think I've seen enough Titanfall is bad cause it's 6v6 articles around here to know most gamers know jack about design or balance.

randomass1713666d ago

Yeah, I can tell you that that is a pretty underhanded thing to say about the game. It's extremely hectic with just six people per team. If it was 12v12, you wouldn't be able to spawn without being shot a few seconds in. Respawn picked a very good number to balance the game. The maps and overall gameplay compliment it. :)

Disagreed
Developers are the backbone of any game, they know each and every aspect of the game. Because they are the personnel who has provided functionality to the game.

Preach! Gamers need to stay in their lane and take notes in order for games to improve in the future and stop acting like they could do a better job from the outside looking in.

In many cases, gamers can do better. How many times have you had an idea that was overall superior or better than what the developer went with? Whether it be how a feature worked or a plot point? Several times, I'm sure. Everyone has had moments where their ideas are a ton better than the developers'.

What gamers need to do is learn that they need to voice these ideas as constructive criticism rather than bashing the hell out of an otherwise good or great game. We have a say in how things SHOULD turn out, but we should not dictate things as that will lead to the same stagnation we claim many developers are suffering from. And developers are the ones who should take notes in order for games to improve. There is a very precarious balance that must be met.

Making the game itself, the developer can do better. But ideas in general is not something you can say "developer knows best", not even in most cases. Gamers nor developers have a monopoly on good ideas.

Don't you think a dev who's a gamer would produce a better product?

HUMDANGUR3658d ago

alucidmind i agree ! it baffles my mind when a dev thinks they have no more ideas for sequels that are well needed. Devs need to listen to the fans for ideas, because well...... that is who you are suppose to appease? If devs took the time to actually listen to their fans or go into forums to get some ideas then boom ! yay ! An example i'll give is ea skates series they said they intended the series to be a trilogy but the game gradually got worse and the last one was putrid. There was 84 pages of ideas for another skate game but it never happened. majority of fans have great ideas, and devs don't usually take any of the ideas , but that isn't always the case I hope the next gen of consoles devs will more so listen .

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.
