I agree with sidar on this... except for the Frostbite issue, practically all other devs are saying that porting a game to Wii U is easy. heck, even Crysis 3 works on it, and would have made it through, if it hadn't been for the EA execs. you tend to forget that lately Nintendo's been adding support for different types of game engine to the Wii U; yes, it won't be as powerful as the PS4 and the XBox One, but it won't be as expensive as the other two either. yes, Sony and MS ha...

if the XBox One's (or even PS4) price is a tad high for the average-joe-who-has-a-family-t o-feed-but-still-enjoy-gaming-a nd-with-kids, then the wallets will decide.

and with Wii U out by almost a year by the time the other 2 consoles come out, it will have more games by then (some 3rd party and a couple of first party exclusives), and Nintendo may even decide to boost sales by having a price drop.

so with the recent XBox Reveal, Wii U and PS4 may be mor...

i think MS is just spreading itself too thin. walking on thin ice, if you may.

they're making the XBox One, a total all-in-one package. Now this could be a good thing, but eventually competing not only with Sony and Nintendo, but also with Google, Samsung, Apple, etc. means practically waging war on all fronts. and that unfortunately, may result into their own demise. sad, but probable.

I'm a nintendo fan, and even I admit that this generation certainly looks promising for Nintendo and Sony after the Xbox One reveal. Sorry, MS -- you'll just have to stick to being my PC and mobile OS for now...

i can't understand how people tend to spin this story either way... this is already a given fact. pretty much all companies making something are thinking of their "next" product early on. heck, sometimes the R&D even overlap versions.

why do you think we get a new iPhone, or Samsung Galaxy S almost every year?

technically "research" is part of the development process.

because a lot of the haters say Nintendo games are "kids" games, but wouldn't mind getting it on PS4/NXBox. kids nowadays, they just won't admit that they enjoy their Mario's as well as their shooters.

@MasterCornholio, "...horrible at designing hardware"? really? their hardware may be underpowered compared to the PS4/NXBox, or slightly above the PS3/360, but to say that they are horrible at "designing" hardware is just immature. Wii ...

no offense, I love COD and BF; but just to add to @PopRocks359, 30 years from now, when you plaster a wall with a picture of Mason/Soap/Ghost and Mario, who do you think people will recognize more?

@yewles1, not saying Mickey Mouse is the face of Hollywood; but similarly, Mickey will garner more recognition compared to others. But yes, Mickey Mouse may not be the face of Hollywood; but in the world of animation, he's an iconic character, and can be considered "the&qu...

agree with Root here. COD and the likes are popular because a lot of your friends say they are. and i meant no disrespect to COD fans (or BF fans, alike); i'm as much of a fan of FPS games and play a lot of COD and BF whenever I can -- but I admit that playing it has a different sense of enjoyment, as compared to enjoying a race with Mario Kart, or having to complete all the stars of Super Mario Galaxy. The latter giving a sense of deeper fulfillment.

except for 3DS. people who have 3DS are enjoying 3rd party titles too.

statement from Avalanche founder (rough translation):

"No. Not at the moment. My kids play “Skylanders Giants” on Wii U. It’s pretty much the only dealings I have with the console. We actually had some develop (dev kits) consoles that just collected dust. It’s a little sad, because we were supposed wanted to do something. I think it is a cool platform, but right now it’s not just up to us. We want t...

if disney does force EA to publish a Star Wars game (pun intended) on a Nintendo console, perhaps we'll be hearing them say, "oh, Frostbite 3 does work on Wii U --- just needed more push i guess ($$$)".

exactly...

unless they wanna admit how inferior of an engine Frostbite 3. i mean, why would CryEngine 3 run on Wii U; or Unreal Engine 3 (and some 4), or any of Ubisoft's game engine (like that of Watch_Dogs) run on Wii U, but they can't make FB3 work on it?

at least CryTek had the balls to admit that the reason they won't bring Crysis 3 in the Wii U (albeit admitting that they were able to run Crysis3 in it) is because EA doesn't want to pub...

if you wanna play any game in a dark room, then yes, this is Microsoft's diamond sword. HOWEVER, and this is a big BUT; as most of the people mentioned here, unless they plan to bundle this as a standard for the next Xbox and STILL priced at $400, then this diamond's not gonna make the cut at all.

not siding with COD/Activision/Infinity Ward (haven't liked COD much since MW), but modern game engines are designed to be scalable. so yes, it's possible to have a new engine and still make it work on older consoles.

also, COD has been rehashing their game engine for the longest time, so having a new engine that still works for current gen is not a far-fetched idea since they've probably began working on it before any of the next-gen consoles have been announced....

when Okami was re-released for the Wii, the motion control, provided a good match for the game. now with the gamepad, it's already too obvious to even say it's perfect for it (with stylus to boot).

i do hope it's not a port of the HD for Wii U, otherwise it would already be a re-remake of a remake; if so, that's already overkill. an Okamiden 2 for the 3DS or Okami 2 for the Wii U would be better.

E3 is like weeks away. it's not like Nintendo can't announce any new game a week before E3. that way, in actual E3 it will still be for "already announced" games.

so it means they won't be ditching E3 as a whole but trying out other ways of sending their message, as stated by Iwata (see below):

“At this years E3 we will not be announcing a new hardware system, so E3′s primary mission will be to have [press, analysts] experience our software. Many people would like to...
