I think they're saying that Hidetaka Miyazaki was the creative brain behind Demon's Souls, and that makes him even more villainous than anything else involved in the game.
I'm not so sure. It's a beatable game with strict rules. I think Beat Takeshi was much more of a villain for having his name on the Famicom Takeshi's Castle.
I think it's going to be great for the first two quarters of 2010. PS3 has a stellar lineup compared to just about everyone else.
Q4 is all up to the announcements we haven't heard yet. If we find out at E3 that one of these new motion-control systems is only geared toward the Wii type of gamer, that system is doomed unless the console price can be dropped to $100. The casual crowd already has a system, and it's a comfy brand name. E3 this year needs to blow the heck up with ...
I'm replying to you because you have a Dalek as your icon.
Yeah, the Wii has been selling, of course, but the core gaming market within Wii owners is quite a bit smaller. It's almost two different markets altogether, with exceptions for sparse Nintendo AAA releases. I've gotta say, I will visit a friend of mine to play a few Wii games every so often, but most of the lineup is boring.
I think it's pretty cool that the market share for both PS3 and 360 are close. I'...
Yeah. That's what's good about the PS3; I've got a 320GB hard drive that's lasted me a while in there for cheap. It looks at the Heavy Rain requirement and has a nice belly laugh.
@Luke4 - That's the one I've got! It's just smaller since it's an older model. And it was 70 bones.
Yup. If I wasn't following gaming news with the rest of you, I would have no clue that Uncharted 2 existed. Getting a cult fanbase and spreading stuff by word-of-mouth is great for titles that might not reach out to a mass market (like with Atlus and specifically Demon's Souls), but Uncharted 2 was made to sell a bunch. I heard nothing about it pre- or post-release in ads, yet I've seen about 30 Mass Effect ads over the past 2 weeks.
Well, any news on a new Gitaroo Man would be awesome to me, but it doesn't have mass appeal.
Zill O'll is PS3 exclusive so far, and hopefully that's coming to the states - it looks great!
Other than that, I hope it's new IP. Like everyone here is saying, I hope it's not a bunch of Dynasty Warriors titles.
My wife is a good amount of the way through Demon's Souls, is starting her next Dragon Age playthrough, and we're teaming up on strategy for Valkyria Chronicles. Her friend, also female, would school either of us on Left4Dead 2, and constantly travels long distances for L4D tournaments.
They'd both probably want this article to be gender-neutral; there are some boyfriends out there who just aren't ready for advanced games (and yeah, some of them are non-gamer nerds, but for ...
There are a billion iterations of Monster Hunter, all of them borrowing giant chunks of material from the other games, and all of the new ones with odd, unique titles. This particular incarnation will be exclusive, but who cares? Look for when Monster Hunter just has a number at the end of it. That's when it's a sequel.
I don't get these "Why would you put Monster Hunter on X360?" posts. It's Japan. Why isn't Monster Hunter on X360 yet? It's on the Wii, PS3, DS, and PSP, after all, and it's still Japan's addictive craze. It's an easy sales shot for Capcom, since it won't need insane production values to sell, just good ones.
That said, I think it's pretty funny that we were all predicting some Natal-enabled watershed world event to be announced in Japan from Capcom (or, like a bunc...
...and now Destructoid has one up from a day-long session with reviewers, eh? Well, here we go...
That's what I felt like as soon as I read the headline. The actual horror part of Dead Space was one of its distinctive advantages over its competition.
We're talking about a survival horror genre that has either been trending toward Michael Bay explosion porn (Japan) or putting some dark-haired little girl in a game, calling it scary, and saying it has nothing to do with The Ring (US).
I am not buying something that plays like Hive Mind Warfare 2. No way, no h...
I agree that we have to wait until the reviews are up, but I wouldn't look at a Socom release to predict how the servers are going to run right now. Support for this game will probably be a bit different, but who knows?
What I think they're doing is avoiding a different multiplayer-only debacle altogether - Fat Princess. People were releasing their reviews before non-reviewers were actually playing the game, and the problems with the game didn't really emerge until the game was...
I know, it really does sound pretty funny when you look at the basics, but the nature vs. nurture idea is constantly being argued over in so many different ways. This is another study talking about your genetics and biology influencing your performance and preference for certain stuff - in this case, videogames.
I wonder if these studies will really start leading to linking gamers and geeks together. Is it really as simple as "Geeks don't have friends, and therefore they...
Wait... Sunflower? Is this a reference to Plants vs. Zombies?
Sony is - pardon the cliche - big in Japan. Like any big part of culture, a small story will carry very well throughout the country and wind up as this "urban legend." There will always be that distrusting section of people for just about anything.
So yeah, I believe that some people in Japan think there's a "kill switch," because a company as rampantly Japanese as Sony will get some myths about it in its home nation. Also, there's a bunch of in-country com...
Talk all you want about childish comebacks - we're in a very subjective argument here, and the only thing you're saying is that SFIV is crap. No supporting statements whatsoever.
See, look, I'll give my short opinion to start you off. I happen to think it's a great game - despite an online system that's immaturely designed (hopefully fixed with that $40 expansion pack, ugh), they did a great job on making an intricate fighting game accessible to the masses. Plus, the graphics ...
It's the same premise - only this time, it's your building!
Dead Rising 2 is a great guess, but that's being made for the 360, PC, and PS3, so that's probably not it.
If it's an existing IP, it could be interesting to see a complete reworking of Devil May Cry. I'm pretty sure they still own the rights to the past Clover titles, so Okami isn't out of the realm of possibilities and makes sense with Natal (although I'm not sure that 360 exclusivity would be a great marketing move for that game).
A left field guess, given that t...
Interesting idea! If it involves the Olympic Games, I'm not interested.
Ted's main point was basically "Assassin's Creed had a strong multiplatform showing on its first iteration, and Dante's Inferno also looks good on the surface, so it'll sell a bunch." I don't think that's the whole story.
Assassin's Creed had a massive marketing campaign. We're talking millions upon millions in TV ads, including featured "premier trailers" during shows. It sold well on its awesome and massive marketing, not on how attractive the box or th...
