If a bigger game-related company buys the rights, it wouldn't be a "conspiracy," it would be a business transaction. I wouldn't be surprised if someone bigger than OnLive backs their product in the end - it may be one of the only ways for this to not go the way of the 3DO. Could be MS, could be Sony, could be Sega (lol), who knows?
However, the controller sure looks familiar, and it seems like the amount of effort and money to make this console relevant will run it i...
That's awesome that we're seeing a bit of Thomas Covenant love from gamers! It's a really epic kind of series with large battles as the focal point sometimes, but also there are some one-on-one and group efforts.
I think the best way to approach it would be to borrow heavily from other games in how it runs, but mash together different genres throughout - you'd have a Warcraft III-like system for the huge battles, a Baldur's Gate-like system for groups in a "dungeon" o...
Ha. Well, I guess my comment to #2 has some actual clout behind it, hehe.
I'm not sure that they'd do a completely different commercial format, but maybe a type of disc that can read Blu-Ray with a bigger storage capacity. That way, you could have PS4 games, but the movie formats would stay the same. Heck, maybe it could be - gasp - backwards compatible if they did that!
You're gloating because the Xbox360 is a "good competitor?" Sure, being a good competitor is okay, I guess, and a bit obvious, since no one survives in business without at least being decent at competing, but that's not necessarily a reason to pull the cell phone out of the goal post and call your mum.
The Xbox360 has some great features. Heck, it has Rez HD and the PS3 doesn't, which is reason enough for me to consider buying it. But this gloating nonsense over be...
Yup, it's boring. Dude is mostly right, but he's stating the obvious differences; this stuff was well-known for a long, long time - yes, not as many PS3 owners have headsets *yet*, because there hasn't been a good monetary incentive for PS3 owners to pick it up. In the meantime, the official PS3 bluetooth headset is phenomenal! More people need to have this.
There also needs to be a nice inclusion deal for this at some point with an accessible game; maybe MAG will have a pack-...
When the Pope is against your war on video games, you know you've lost.
If these are all gameplay shots, I am floored. Absolutely floored. I really hope they're all from the actual game, because that's quite a bit more impressive-looking than the demo... or, like, any game... ever.
I love this quote:
"...when you finally complete the tasks it lays out you'll be a better gamer - and possibly even person - for it."
I like that other people are seeing this game as more than just escapist stuff - it's a psychological experience to get yourself through it, especially that first level.
You're also encouraged to help your fellow man/woman throughout your first, second, ad infinitum playthroughs, and although you don't really say...
Love the microwave comment.
It's easier to transfer data now, but when I got my new Slim, moving the HDD was a bit tougher than you'd think. A lot of the game data had to stay on the old PS3, unfortunately, due to rights issues, and I found myself redownloading my Rock Band collection and most of my DLC. It wasn't necessarily "hard" to do, but it was a pain.
Still, this guy has all of the writing talent of a bucket of crabs. Small, non-enemy crabs.
I was expecting at least a sound argument here...
"I have a feeling my ps3 was giving me some sort of sign. Like it was telling me that I play too many video games and that I need to cut back a bit. Or maybe it was that I should have acted on the warning signs from four months ago when it started dying. My last option is to jump on the 360 bandwagon."
Way to use weasel words as your only form of evidence, Erik. Even your anecdotal stuff doesn't lead to yo...
Dude, that's how business works. It's a little sad that inventors don't get all the credit, but big guys buy little guys' ideas, and the little guys get some cash out of the deal.
Microsoft's role in all this isn't inventing the technology. As you all pointed out, it had been done, and MS put more money forward than Sony to make this happen. Their role is to get support from game creators and have games come out for Natal.
Use this barometer: if the games stink, ...
Here's one dude that's backing you up on your comment. It was markedly non-fanboyish and a pretty simple explanation.
PS3 is taking the Wii Motion Plus idea and making it much more precise and a heck of a lot of fun.
Natal is tech that is advanced beyond the PSEye, adding much more depth, as evidenced by the work that the Tel Aviv company did before Microsoft bought them. It's an improvement on the PSEye idea, and it's a way to bring primitive mo-cap into the home,...
Do we have a release date for Halo: Reach yet? IGN said Fall, so that makes it more of a holiday title, right? Why are we comparing sales between a Winter release and a holiday release? When would those results be tabulated? When the year ends? When Reach has as much time as GOWIII? When Reach lowers its price to whatever GOWIII is during the holiday season? Do we include bundles? What stats do we use? Just NPD? Amazon?
In other words, this is a ridiculously stupid...
Holy crap. I can't believe that a pro from an entertainment medium that has been closed-mindedly chased down by political hawks screaming "Think of the children!" has the gall to point the blame at another entertainment medium that has been closed-mindedly chased down by political hawks screaming "Think of the children!"
Uh, Ron? Our '00s equal your '70s, okay? Lay off.
Um... it's being made for both PS3 and 360 as we speak.

Porsche fever? Really? I'm going to go with Top Gear's latest episode on this one - "It's only a Beetle." It's awesome that there are this many cars in the first place; I don't mind if Porsche doesn't make it.
In the meantime, I'm just enjoying how awesome the Nurburgring is looking. The backgrounds look much better than what we were seeing in the Time Trial Challenge thing. The trees seem to look like trees this time, not like Lego trees.
I haven't had a problem playing any instant thing on my queue yet. Maybe I was just lucky.
@Alpha - Yeah, and the Planet360 writer didn't even mention that the disc was temporary either. Right now, it is a pain to get all the way off your chair and put in a new disc to watch Netflix (lol) but it'll be much easier once the disc obligation is done with. And yeah, it'll still be free.
That's nice and all, but keep in mind that many people do want to watch Netflix streaming stuff on their TV's. They used to sell boxes that only did that for 100 bucks, so it's nice that our consoles now have that functionality.
@stonecold1
Be ready for this type of business competition-y crap to get in the way of artistic visions until the cows come home. Video games are a big potential (but not recession-proof) global profit center now, and more than one company will have a console. Those companies will fight for exclusivity and multiplatform rights far into the future.
Some of the big old Japanese companies are not ready for this yet. They continue to spend egregious amounts of time on...
