Wait, human resources? Are you sure you don't mean PR?
Hyping HR is kinda like sharpening a ceramic knife sharpener in order to have a duller spoon. It's a division of a company, so you don't need to hype a division, and furthermore it's the wrong division of the company.
Well, on this actual subject, yeah, PR will use hyperbole to the press, especially when it's not completely on-the-record. However, the recent Heavy Rain videos lead me to believe that it's at ...
Wait, are your sources actually two concepts, or did you have articles to go with your post?
Links, or at least authors, if they're articles.
True, you won't - at least no one will step forward and say that the Xbox360 is being pushed to its limit in a Natal-focused game *if this chip removal thing goes through*. However, was Natal ever supposed to be designed for this type of game? I know that they can reel more people in with linking it to older games or more hardcore-leaning future titles, but this seems more like a casual leap for the 360.
No matter what people are saying at presentations, if they really are movi...
I'm psyched about the game, but let's actually look at the story here. The publisher basically said that the game was good. Duh.
I'm looking forward to GOWIII quite a bit, but nothing changes because someone said "If you're over 18 and are looking for a good single-player experience..." She may as well have said "If GOW3 target demographic and GOW3 target demographic, then GOW3 target demographic." That would have made more sense. Not news.
Have any of you ever read a newspaper? Did you read the editorial section - you know, the section that was marked in big bold letters as "Editorial" or "Opinion?" It's an opinion piece - you can't compare this to HHG, where the submitter goes out of his way to make sure you do *not* know his headlines are opinions or rumors.
For better or worse, IGN is trying to connect itself to the fans that read stuff on their site. It's a problem when most gaming magazi...
If you think the blog is bad, look at the comments.
You know, we may think the worst of our site because of PS3/Xbox360 rivalries and fanboys, but here's a nice glimpse into the rest of the world. In regular news/blogs/whatever comments, every discussion turns into a bile-filled argument over whether God exists or not. It's amazing that so much bickering about it has happened, and yet there are no developments on the subject whatsoever!
I'm happier over here, thank...
Yeah, what everyone else said. Praying for ZOE3, but we're probably going to see another Gundam Dynasty Warriors game. Sigh.
I'm just kinda pissed at Sega that they can't port a game. They did a fine job moving Rez from DC to PS2. Sure, you need a bigger team to deal with more complicated architecture, but for that you make a bigger team! If anything, Sega is an old, weathered company that knows the basics of business and game development, all Sonic Unleashed-s aside.
I would like to know what went on behind the scenes for this port-fail. Did Sega not get paid enough by Platinum to get a good team ...
Explain yourself. I could say that Halo is nothing but shooting stuff, but that's missing the point, right?
Saying that SotC is riding around on a horse and climbing monsters is technically right. It's the same as saying that climbing Mount Everest is only climbing a mountain and freezing your butt off, or that playing Mario games are nothing but jumping in the air.
As for the puzzle game thing, yeah, it has its puzzles. Right, excuse this group of developers f...
There are good and bad points to either market, no matter what the volume. For example, if sci-fi TV fans didn't rabidly watch the shows, buy the DVD's, purchase swag, and attend conventions, marketing execs wouldn't give any pilot in the sci-fi genre the time of day. The viewership's too small, after all.
The core market are those rabid fans that buy quite a bit more than the average casual consumer, and yeah, I'd definitely put myself in the core group. The volume (in people...
This looks like an improvement on Mevo and the Groove Riders for the iPhone. Has anyone else played that and notice the similarities?
True. But this list isn't the answer for something like that - Gamestop naming Demon's Souls GOTY balances that out! I guess you've got a short, silly, multiplayer-focused game on one side, and you've got a long, deep, and hard one on the other side, and folks, that's what she said.
Yup. You know, I wasn't that thrilled about the Wii, but when my extended family came to visit, the response to the games from the little guys was tremendous. I remember back in the day when I'd move the NES controller around hoping that my sheer force of will would move a car back on the road or a spaceship away from bullets, but these kids are moving the controllers around and seeing stuff happen because of it. They freakin' love it! Actually, they'd tire themselves out playing NSMB Wii...
It's played up quite a bit in the editorial/blog world. Actually, you'd think it was the second coming of Cthulu the way some writers gush about it to this day, so I do see your point to a certain degree. However, the average gamer (and maybe the average NP reader?) probably hasn't played it. Okami (which is, yeah, much better) and BG&E are perfect games for the newbie Zelda-consuming Nintendo fan to discover, so it's good that it has a mention on the list.
Also, after pla...
I'm actually really happy with the title of your video this week, HHG. It's an obvious opinion title, nothing flame-y or stating conjecture as fact.
As for commenters having problems with integrating features from other games into newer games, what the heck is wrong with that? Every company learns from every other game developer if they're good at what they do (and they learn from the bad projects what not to do). Heavy Rain looks like a blindingly new experience, but it also ...
Here's the basics of playing it - if you're stuck at the start screen, tilt your controller toward the flower pot and it'll zoom in. It pretty much explains everything from there. Hold a button, any button, and tilt to go. Open up flowers, they'll open up more pathways, stuff will happen, and you'll reach a goal.
The cool stuff about Flower isn't so much the "message" that people seem to get from it, it's more about the great (and probably the only great) use of th...
"If you really want to be indie, stop giving a f*** about being indie and just be."
This is the best thing Jaffe's said in a very long time. I could care less about the rest of the article - he should have just posted this.
Also, this isn't too unexpected. He makes downloadable smaller-production games, after all. Flower was a great experience, and if it hit him harder than anything else this year, more power to him for saying it's the GOTY.
Totally agree with PS2. I'm still playing new amazing games for it. I just got SMT Devil Summoner 2, borrowing a copy of Disgaea, in the middle of Ico, re-playing SotC, finished MGS2 a little while ago for the billionth time, and finished Persona 4 recently (well, at least the first 100+ hour playthrough).
I'm still eagerly awaiting the day when I have enough time to get Odin Sphere, Persona 3 FES, Suikoden III, GrimGrimoire, the first Devil Summoner, re-play GOWII, re-get Zo...
Me too. It seems like the discount is drawing huge sales - this is the first time the Steam servers were too busy to start downloading my stuff!
After having a blast with Dragon Age, I'm interested in everything BioWare has to offer again - I fell off that bandwagon after KOTOR2.
You know, I expected this to be another fan-ish panning of Sony-supported tech, but this really isn't the case. I like the article. It presents a good argument against the 3D TV surge. While it sure isn't the only view, or the "correct" one if there is such a thing, he brings up good points, mainly that 3D TV's won't be effective if they're small.
In the US, unemployment is at 10%, and underemployment brings it to about 25%. A 3D national sweep isn't happening f...
