Plus, those articles are pretty tongue-in-cheek. They're pretty much a Greg Miller stream of consciousness, which is entertaining, but not to be taken super-seriously.

Despair, thanks for posting that link! I'm still not sure who the writer is, but it makes a ton more sense than "You have incurred the wrath of Kratos" or whatever.

Hm. Replace IGN with Edge and I totally agree with your comment.

N4G- where people click "disagree" because you ask a question and clear up a problem with iTunes!

Yeah, they released Beyond on Thursdays on the site because Apple wasn't getting them on iTunes quickly enough. I've resigned to using iTunes, but I have to accept that I'll be getting last week's podcasts the next week at times.

A Beyond screams across the sky... My iPod is inconsolable right now, it can't stand the loss.

I'm sorry, I didn't see anything in here about Roper being fired or the quality of his reviews. Maybe I didn't read it close enough?

Seriously, wait for some official word on it if you're really that hungry to disparage someone over a game review. The guy just lost his job. Laid off. Usually that means let go because of money, whether in negotiations or just plain putting senior staff on the chopping block.

And every big digital distribution hub. If this was about quality, they'd just say they're releasing a 300-hour RPG to Steam with a graphical engine that puts Crysis 2 to shame - unplayable by any modern PC. Directed by Peter Jackson, written by Thomas Pynchon, music by Johann Sebastian Bach, risen from the grave by their mid-level executives.

But no, it's not about quality, it's about making a sustainable business out of digital distribution. There are a lot of people on XBLA...

It's a very different business model that goes with most of the big companies in gaming. Square decided not to just stay as a developer company, and acquire others in the hopes of generating some good profits while bolstering smaller companies' budgets for their games. Like EA, Bethesda, heck, even Konami and down the line to Kojima Productions.

It was awesome when Square could take their best team and put them on something completely out of the ordinary - for example, taking a...

Loving the Demon's Souls appreciation. However, I'm startled to see not as many FFXIII's yet... but I understand. It's a new game, and new game opinions will change with time.

My list is all about "What would I be most likely to pick up after its initial playthrough?" That doesn't always mean they're the best games, but it counts the most to me.

1) Final Fantasy 13
2) Metal Gear Solid 4
3) Demon's Souls
4) Flower
5) Ridge Race...

Extremely anticipated? Am I reading this from Level-5, who just released White Knight Chronicles out here? They'd better start redeeming themselves before they predict hype among RPG fans.

Maybe they'll do Dragon Quest X... maybe on a real console this time? That worked pretty well for them not too long ago, and I don't see why they wouldn't come back to that series.

I don't quite get how this guy says the main flaw in MM9 was the music, and that it was largely fixed here. I don't hear that at all - MM9 had some great tunes, and MM10 sounds more like stuff that came out of Capcom's later NES Mega Man games... more advanced sound palette, but hardly anything remarkable about the composition.

I think it's pretty cool to see Proto Man take on all of the later MM mechanics and be available from the get-go. All these in-game characters and cha...

Fox, have you tried Half-Minute Hero and the Lunar Silver Star remake on PSP? Those may tide you over for a while.

I wish it was ZOE3, but Kojima Productions wouldn't announce a title like that outside of a major convention. They can afford to wait. Same goes for a new Killzone or the impending Resistance 3. Maybe they'd prime readers for a new Syphon Filter, since hardly anyone knows what the heck that is anymore.

Thinking a bit more realistically, yeah, maybe it's a new Sly title. I know someone's working on Infamous 2, but it would be great to see the Sucker Punch team bring this back...

Yeah, I'm happy that Portal 2 is starting to really gain some PR steam...

Huh. I only realized that was a pun when I typed it out!

Anyway, I thought that was clever. Obviously, he's not disparaging the company that makes the operating system that Valve's games have lived on for quite a while. It was a nice geeky push for Portal hype.

This just in: Company that worked for 4 years on a new engine for an epic HD Final Fantasy makes a game with screen tearing on CRT's. This also just in: Apparently tech geeks that nitpick over details such as screen tearing enjoy their new PS3 games on old TV's... that or they wanted their HDMI ports for other things, like... um... a Netflix Roku... a standalone Blu-Ray player... one more extra monitor for their Mac Pro... no, I don't get it.

This also just in: Most music r...

Whoa boy. That's like the old "Go make a sandwich" line... except that sandwiches don't typically cost US $150. Maybe he was just really sick of hearing the same thing over and over, but people this high up get paid exorbitant amounts of money to not speak lines like these. Not cool!

Honestly, I was expecting a higher score from Clements, but it's understandable.

If IGN and many other big-time publishers were writing a review for the gaming populace that was around for Final Fantasy X, they would not have to address the fact that the game isn't for everyone. No one would be miffed when they brought home a copy of the "next big thing" and realized it wasn't totally open-world and multiplayer-ish, and in fact it flew in the face of those ideals. Tha...

I really don't get why their review is still delayed, but they're releasing articles doing void-filling stat analysis. Is Ryan Clements just not done with it yet? If that's the case, then that rumor posting of the perfect 10 leak would be complete fakery.

I guess you've gotta complete the game to really review a story-driven thing like XIII, but the way this has played out is a bit silly. They didn't have a Slim and a retail copy somewhere?

5582d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I don't think that's a good idea. If we just leave these reviews alone, there won't be a good discussion on this stuff. We should continue to voice our opinions on these types of reviews, and that doesn't allow us to boycott the site.

I don't know. Maybe because they found that the linearity of emerging action titles over the past 4 years, the latest of which was UC2, allowed the creators to provide an incredibly cinematic experience. Maybe they look at Dragon Age (good game, but different) and wonder why people perceive the game as being more "open" when it sacrifices story breadth and depth to create the illusion of the universe being big and affected by so much causality? The staff time and disc capacity has...
