I had forgotten that Knights in the Nightmare was coming out on PSP! Loved the DS version - can't wait for this to come out in the States.
Nier looks like it's getting the appropriate scores for a Squenix side-project. Hopefully those 8's are because it's a very interesting game with some flaws, instead of it being an unoriginal or boring game that's put together well.
Then again, it's Famitsu, and they're... um... interesting with their scores sometimes.
I like that they're portraying these giant dudes as a bit more vulnerable here. It seemed like in Gears 1 you were some unstoppable Mack truck, but if you can learn anything from this trailer, it seems that they want to get away from that feeling of invulnerability. Pretty cool.
Still just a non-gameplay scene though. Hope something more substantial comes up at E3.
Uncharted fanboys? Have we really reached the point where even a console's fans are splitting into factions?
Seriously though, "2nd-party" companies like Naughty Dog and Insomniac share many of their Sony programming secrets with other companies, and they also get tips from their own peers. I'm sure that GOWIII is, yes, the product of an amazing development company, but it's also the product of strategic partnerships and collaboration that raise the bar forward with...
Heavenly Sword has its pros and cons. My favorite thing about it is the voice acting and the quality of motion capture during cutscenes. You really do feel like you're in the thick of a movie at times... kinda a B fantasy movie, but still, it's engaging as anything I've played.
However, the big con really pushed me away from the game near the end. These high production values that led to those great immersive scenes came at a high price, and the game mechanics took a cut. Y...
Definitely a fun game! I actually had the most fun during a boss battle that no one seems to mention in their reviews... in the middle-beginning of the game...
This had better be true! I've been waiting for years for this announcement. Only thing that could top this for me is a Square Einhander sequel.
There was hardly any content here whatsoever. Just a few small quips about the date and whatever the guy saw on the videos he linked from Game Trailers. Ugh.
However, I did learn something - I had never saw the cover to Vampire Rain before. How shameless do you have to be to just put an awful-looking Snake clone not only as your main character, but front-and-center on the cover art? It's like saying "Hey look, we stink at making games! Will you be the one we fool into...
I'm not finding this guy's review on ME2 - only someone else writing for another regional Examiner. I wonder what he has to say about the planet mining mini-game, since it was a really hot-button issue when the game first came out.
I really don't agree with a core value listed in the FFXIII part - "While the fan base may be spilt on the game (like previous Final Fantasy titles), Final Fantasy XIII does have some redeeming qualities including..."
The reason...
Oh my insert deity here. You can all stop flipping out now - it's a joke, people. Let's keep the crazy in the Open Zone and talk about games.
Actually, I'd think that a Satanist would be pleased with Doom. Sure, you're killing demons, but it made them look pretty freakin' cool back then! But since when does "Dark Voodoo" intersect with this? I kinda figured that Nazi Zombies wouldn't really have much to do with this article - he'd be better off including Bayonetta ...
Yup, like I thought during the announcement of the game itself, the font said it all. The art style is "edgier" than before, with more spikes and lightning bolts. Apparently, Nintendo thinks that the long-time Pokemon fan from the old days of Red and Blue just turned 13 and wants to be X-Treme!!
But seriously, the Pokemon team is tremendously talented, and I'll play just about anything by them. You know it'll be just as addictive as before.
If those really are the logos and fonts for the Japanese version, maybe we're seeing a change in the art style this time around. Those sharp edges to the characters make it look a bit more... uh... edgy. I hope this isn't the Poochie of the Pokemon series - it was charming the way it was.
Some soundtracks not mentioned above that would easily rank with the listed titles: Ridge Racer PSP, R-Type Delta, Katamari Forever, Rez, Persona 4, Demon's Souls, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, Final Fantasy XIII, Valkyria Chronicles, Gradius IV, Pixeljunk Eden.
I do have to applaud a Soul Blazer shoutout though. That game did have one heck of a soundtrack for its time.
He's just throwing everything computer-ish into one bag. Remember, people, Jack White is very well-known for his guitar playing, not his philosophy on life.
It makes sense for him. Part of his music's charm is the low-tech, raw sounds that make it seem like it's a bunch of unfettered rockin' from a garage. It's not, but that's what it sounds like. That's part of the music's "image," so it makes sense that the image he'll convey to the press is all about old-school m...
Demon's Souls conversion would be rough. It's a game of rules, and just mapping a sword and shield to Move wouldn't work very well in that sort of game. For example, you get a giant dragon-slaying sword. You can't just swing that around like it's a Nerf toy. What would they do, cancel your attack if you move too quickly?
There are too many little things that make Demon's Souls awesome that would be ruined by just tacking on motion controls. Try to make a sequel with Move a...
This looks great so far. I'm not sure how Samus can shoot in so many different directions without some cheesy auto-aim, but hopefully that will be cleared up by E3. Production values look immense.
Maybe it's the game I've been expecting for a while now - "Monster Hunter 3 Trois Freedom Unity Move" for the iPhone. Just one more way to play the same game! Japan would go nuts.
Seriously, I'm not optimistic about another announcement-announcement.
Okay, he talks a lot about how the first 20 hours of FFXIII are unnecessary since the characters, their motivations, and summons were all leaked beforehand.
How is this different for the average gamer than any other game since the dawn of the Net? There are FAQs out there that let you know where every little thing in Fallout 3 is located... but if you want to experience the game, you don't look at those on a first play-through! I guess Heavy Rain was completely unnecessary, rig...
It sucks, but I can see why it's already there. That website with the countdown was leading to April Fools' Day. Not that a countdown to April Fools' Day wouldn't be figured out pretty quickly, and was a bit too obvious, but whatever. It's amateur hour at the prankster club today.
Come on, gaming community - do we really have to Sheng Long each other? That sounded awesome - although it did look joke-y the whole time.
Honestly, I'd love for Mikami to come out at E3 and say that an April Fool's joke gave him a good idea for a game...
Who the heck talks this way about the industry in which he/she is currently employed and gets away with it? There aren't many other ways to make an entire organization look hideous. Ugh.
If the game has amazing writing in it that you couldn't get anywhere else, then we'll know why they kept him on board. Adversely, if the story is nothing to write home about, then either:
1) We're going to wonder if Crytek's CEO is actually a chimpanzee, hence not firing the guy si...
