I guessed Final Fantasy Versus XIII would be 1st. I didn't know that DQ10 was in the bag just yet, so that trumped it, but still - my guess was 2nd place. Way to be predictable... Thanks, Japan!

Where the heck would someone rent Tabula Rasa for PC before they buy it? If there's a place, they should also stop renting it.

Why the heck would someone who didn't know about the shutdown find out about it before opening the packaging?

Sure, if you're going to buy that game, you should know what it is beforehand. People on N4G know that. However, a company doesn't make a nice, shiny cover and have it displayed on a shelf marked "Sale" or something to at...

Of course they're doing a Vietnam game - Activision has no idea what will happen with the lawsuit with Zampella and West, who are claiming that they have the rights to any COD game made in a post-Vietnam time period... and it's not like they're going to sell a bunch of "COD: Yet Another WWII Shooter"

They'll really have to to go beyond the amount of silly they put in WAW if they want to survive. Treyarch was lauded for not taking their game too seriously, because MW an...

X-Play's okay, if a bit boring to me sometimes. I'd rather just listen to a few good podcasts for that stuff and watch the Japanese game shows G4 sometimes still broadcasts... although they're all looking same-y to me now also. Yeah, I really don't have a reason to watch that channel.

Can't stand Attack of the Show, but I remember some weird thing about Olivia doing a Playboy shoot that they went crazy over on the air. I remember N4G blowing up over the fact that there was n...

You know what's even worse about that "Cooking Papa" picture? There's actually a companion game to Cooking Mama called "Science Papa."

Yeah, girls apparently do all the cooking, while guys are better at science and have a job. Forward-thinking stuff in the world of technology!

This was kinda my reaction to the article too. It's obviously the result of someone in charge of inventory not knowing video games and not keeping an eye on recalls. That's what you'll get when you're in a giant department store that can't afford their own resident gaming guru, and the person in charge of it decides not to keep up on everything.

I mean, as a gamer I know that Tabula Rasa wasn't worth the disc it was printed on, but if I were just a manager with no interest in t...

Yeah. They need to start bringing a good PS1 catalog to NA. First Einhander and Suikoden 2, then I'll think about trophies.

I agree. It was weird to not play as Snake for a while, but the story in that game was very well-told by the end, and the symbolic stuff was awesome.

People complain about playing as a polygonal naked guy for a little bit, but they seem to forget that it's just one of many tricks Kojima plays on the gamer for that scene - I won't talk about those here since someone out there may not have played this game yet, but it's one of the best scenes in gaming.

That said, i...

1) Yes, it is a bit like an action game, including Bayonetta. They looked to action games and first-person shooters as a way to reinvent how JRPG's work. Since you're really focused on teams, it's hard to know everyone's HP levels, so the screen flashes red a la COD. But yeah, that's a good enough analogy.

2) It's only what you would call "Press A to Win" for a small amount of time before you're really controlling a team. The system gets more and more enjoyable the ...

First of all, thanks!

I really don't want to spoil anything for you, but what you're looking for might be further in the game. The story might be structured differently than most games in that it doesn't show its hand until far later on, but the other things you're looking for... well, like I said, I wouldn't want to spoil it, but you might want to play on.

I understand that it's frustrating to hear what I just said above. The game is paced in order to reward you f...

Which is why this is a giant subjective argument that'll never be resolved. For me, it's awesome, and I think if I give it time, it'll sit at the top over VI, VIII, X, and X-2 (forget the story and pop songs, the actual game is great!). My first reason would be the soundtrack, 2nd would be art direction, 3rd would be the story, 4th would be the awesome team-dynamics based combat that you don't really get into until later in the game, and 5th is a big place that's a bit of a spoiler... all o...

Original blogger: "Heavenly Sword on the other hand is constantly changing things up. Here’s a quick fight, now a puzzle, now a shooting section, here’s a new character to control. It’s kept me on my toes much more."

Yeah, and here's why. The combat sucks. Sure, you get to shoot a bow or drive a cannonball with the Sixaxis (blech) every so often, but the majority of the game is in regular old combat scenes. The bosses are okay, if a bit repetitive once you get the ha...

Interesting list. I like that Rudden added that Glasser was QA for one of the games - it's better than someone digging that up later.

Mine:

1. Ridge Racer
2. Crisis Core
3. Patapon 2
4. Dissidia
5. Hammerin' Hero

I love the PSP GOW, both Lumines titles, Half-Minute Hero, Gitaroo Man Lives (even though the PS2 version is better), and Space Invaders Extreme, but if it's down to five, those are mine!

That's really interesting considering Edge's stance on FFXIII. This game's all about complex customization ending in a rock-paper-scissors battle system, while FFXIII was all about cutting back on customization (well, from XII at least) ending in a complex battle system. I guess in their eyes, customization wins.

As for me, I'll be playing SMT: Strange Journey over this game any day, but it'll be worth a look.

First commenter on that site:

"I'm so glad Australia doesn't have any Gamespots."

Really? Are you sure that there aren't a few more visible problems with the Australian gaming scene? Sure, one of them just announced he's leaving, but still... Gamespot is the least of AU's worries right now.

There are people on this site that will make the usual 360 joke (and I'm prone to do that at times), and there are people who have been in the retail scene before. It can drive you freakin' nuts.

There have been a few Gamestops I've been to where they're trying to sell me everything under the sun and I just feel awful turning them down; the result being I enter a store and subsequently feel awful, because most of it is pure BS. The low-wage guys know this. They're not making c...

I see your business-world rumor confirmation post and raise it an free-access article from IEEE on autostereoscopic 3D displays! According to Google Scholar, at least 112 other papers have cited this one: http://www.soe.ucsc.edu/cla...

So far, Versus XIII is exclusive to the PS3. Can't trust that stuff anymore, but so far that's the status, so the news really couldn't be that.

I don't think it's the next Castlevania game, because if it is then the rumor is blown way out of proportion. We know it was originally a different game, and Kojima is only being an administrator on the project. Not that big of a deal.

Honestly, it's probably something you wouldn't think of being synonymous with PS3. Mayb...
