Word is bomb, Unicron. I haven't been that blown away by a demo in a long, long time. Granted it was all within one arena, but it was so much fun that I could care less about the venues in the first place.
Yeah, that's a really nice job on the boxart. Hopefully Sega will reap some rewards from making these good decisions, and that will lead them to always do so from now on! Cool.
The next iteration of Bayonetta would obviously be developed in-house at Platinum for both platforms a la Vanquish. They won't look to some awful Sega squad to attempt to port a game ever again. TGSI.
It's a little of that, and a little of "Oh crap, Japanese gamers tend to buy games for the PS3, and our 360-lead idea didn't buck the trend at all. Maybe we should be making Japanese games that are playable on that system." http://www.kotaku.com.au/20...
Nice, Riki, you're getting your day in the sun with this awesome demo - seriously, Mikami doesn't disappoint (but Sega tends to do so)! I've gotta say, despite Bayonetta having some major problems on the PS3 (again, thanks Sega, thanks a lot), the demos for both of Platinum's games drew me into buying them. They just play so well - the control mechanics of these games are just unparalleled.
I'm not big on the steroids-and-dark-brown style that's do...
"The next day, I went to my local library. To my delight, the cookbook was front and center in the new arrivals section. Grinning like an idiot, I practically hugged the volume as I removed it. I was immensely proud of myself -- just think of all the money I saved!"
Ha ha ha!!! Try doing that with an in-demand book. It doesn't work. I remember seeing the waiting list for the second Harry Potter at my public library - it was hundreds of patrons long.
...
Come on. Bayonetta ran at 720p and "60" wavering and shuddering fps on the PS3, and that's because Sega really, really, really screwed up on porting the game. Did you play that version? I did - I still loved it, but when it stuttered, I was shouting at the heavens for Sega execs' heads. They had to ask Sony for help just so they could stop the game from loading with every menu change. Seriously. Sega derped the derp on that one. There wasn't any gimping, just Sega...
Man, I hope so. They need to channel a bit of II's extreme amounts of awesome to make it work. If the changes made in this one are just a graphics update over the past couple PS2 iterations, I'm not that interested. Not that V was bad, but it wasn't outstanding the way the first two were.
Here's a The World Ends With You fan that also loves Crisis Core.
I get it, though. The story wasn't always coherent, and the end battle was way too predictable, tedious, and silly. If you played it right, Zack was so powerful by the end that he could have altered FFVII's space-time continuum and survived, but no. That was dumb. The gameplay was hit-or-miss - at a certain point, you could get by by just doing one move over and over again if you felt like it. Th...
Definitely buy Demon's Souls ASAP. You won't regret it. Even if for some weird reason the online component disappeared, it's still great - online connectivity enhances the game, but it doesn't make or break it by any means.
There are some great RPG's this generation (not as many as usual, but still, great ones!), but Demon's Souls is king for me. Followed closely by Oblivion.
That definitely deserves a place in the list over Tales of Vesperia. TWEWY was an amazing game.
I think RB3's exciting (check the actual setlist, it's really good), but take a look at preorder stuff from Amazon. It's confusing. There's just the game, just the game with a keyboard, the guitar all by its lonesome, but I couldn't find any package deals at all. I can't even figure out what I'm going to have to pay to play this game the way I want to yet, and that's a little disturbing. They're going to have to be abundantly more clear to put what Drak...
Square needs to quickly become the developer of Einhander 2. That's what they were good at - they just didn't recognize their own level of shmup awesomeness at the time.
I thought of Bethesda, but they have strong RPG intellectual property of their own, they don't need any help from Japan on the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout to sell games. I'm not denying that it would be cool, but it looks like that would be a waste of Bethesda's cash.
I thought of BioWare, but- well... they're finishing up The Old Republic... haven't really announced any new projects lately... man, that would be nice. Wishful thinking, though. That wo...
For that kind of money, current owners would be better off finding a FightPad or a Hori arcade stick.
New owners would be left with a pretty ugly-looking D-pad thing. Maybe it'll work fine, but it still looks... just plain silly. It looks like it's just grafted on to the existing hardware, and that turn-click thing doesn't look any better. If it was some guy's mod to the controller, I'd be impressed, but only because a mod doesn't have to look goo...
I'm not that down on Killer Croc, that was more of an atmospheric stage than a boss. It really depends on what you're looking for.
What I didn't like was Steroid Joker at the end. How awkward and non-Batman-ish was that fight? It was like they forgot to add a boss within their story, so they just tacked him on at the end. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't one of the worst battles gameplay-wise, but the Joker just isn't that kind of guy. He'd jus...
Cool. I actually didn't have Geno's move at the end, so I initially had a tough time with SMRPG's last boss.
I'm going to add a few games that I was disappointed by the final boss battle in:
Zera from Grandia 2 - You're fighting in the middle of a war where two impressive gods are being used by humans, only to come to the end of the line and easily kill a really lame-looking moth. Game over.
Zerase from Suikoden 5 ...
If you're looking for more storage space, the PS3 runs on regular old SATA laptop hard drives and they're chimp-simple to replace... I installed a 320GB one over a year ago for $75.
Just in case you don't want download size to get in the way. If it's about download speed, I can't help with that.
I'm just not sure about this entire thing, strictly on a cultural basis.
Japan and Korea are known for having a base of customers that hardly leave their TV screen or computer monitor. Ever. There's even a Japanese term for people that never leave their room. Why would one of the biggest Japanese RPG-producing companies out there be the first big company to take some semi-moral stance on MMO playing time? You sit down to play RPG's, and you often stay there for...
The writer hit the nail on the head about what I liked in this game. Check this quote:
"There is an incredible amount of activity taking place on the screen at one time. It’s almost overwhelming at first. But when you obtain proper control over the character, you will run towards every challenge smiling. The game play is totally exhilarating."
Yup. This. The control mechanics are so well-designed that all this crazy stuff going on is enjoyable ins...
