Not a bad little bump of cash, probably a real considerable amount for a Polish studio as well. They're not short of cash but I always imagine their budgetary constraints are a lot tighter than equivalent US or western Europe studios.
Tis the season to empty your wallets! Good deals though, though you may be best off looking at store deals - they're usually better than those on the main companies digital storefronts.
Working on a single platform, especially the more powerful one (not including the PC of course) does mean that you will inevitably become more proficient with it and be able to draw more out of it. There's little doubt that Naughty Dog have managed this and I imagine The Last of Us 2 will be their most impressive game yet.
Not a huge surprise that they got to release. Makes sense for Sony to get good games onnthe system.
I'm not sold on the $900 pc equivalent part though. A bit too much like PR speak for me, but I do imagine that it's good value for money.
I'm not overly surprised. VR is a niche market for now and I just don't think there's the people out there to buy enough games for it to be financially viable to make a game without it being subsidised by a big company.
Sony have had the advantage since the start. Released the PS4 first, after a massive 'win' (for lack of better words) at the original E3 showing of both consoles. Not only that, the PS4 has a huge lineup of upcoming games, plus the launch of the PS4 Pro brings them to the attention of the consumers.
Still, what matters is that both are doing well. Monopoly benefits nobody, but Sony have earned the higher spot.
Decent deals, especially Forza which is absolutely fantastic
Interesting. A lot of aspects are probably playing into it. The closeness to Christmas. Tightening of budgets due to whatever situations politically, globally and such. Could also be the simple fact that people were burned by Watch_Dogs and Ubisoft.
No doubt that certain things can be structured in certain ways for games like Dishonored, but at the same time these short story effects he speaks off are managed in open world games - Look at the larger missions found in the Elder Scrolls games, which just instance off areas (for lack of better word).
Granted, the main thing this format gives Dishonored over an open world is the ability to put in hugely contrasting designs that would need to be brought in steadily in an open world....
Not exactly unknown. There was no doubt that the normal consoles couldn't really handle VR to any real standard. These new consoles had to be made, that upgrade was essential.
It's mostly PR talk, of course, but certain MS have done well this year. At the same time, this year was always going to flatter them because they had an absolutely dire 2014/15.
As others have said, need to keep them away from a buyout. The big companies would ruin them by AAA-ising their games and by butchering GoG
I just hope they retain a strong focus on the single player. MP is all good and well, but the best of Mass Effect was and will always be the single player.
Looks interesting. The Sniper series is going strong so hopefully they'll just build on that!
Haha, a very strong statement. At least it wasn't made by a Ubi exec. But I'd just take it as a little PR speak. Hopefully this game will be better than the first. It was good, just wasn't what I expected it to be!
Certainly looking good, but it's bound to being 4K and all! Shows what the pro can achieve them, providing it does look like that in-game and they're not doctored :P
As others have said, I'm very much expecting Scorpio to match the news. I think that MS need to beat the pro in power though, otherwise launching late will cripple them.
I'm certainly interested in the VR. Shorter games aren't an issue and people need to stop judging on length alone. A long, bad game, isn't worth the money - simple as. A short, great game, is worth it. Look at games like Firewatch, short but fantastic. So long as they're not priced an insane amount it's irrelevant.
Everybody is going to have a preference and there's always going to be some competition in it. Whenever there's even a small comparison, there's always going to be the this vs that debate. Even if it's just in the case of arguing which to buy!
It's not exactly a huge shock really. Although crossplay is finally becoming more mainstream, actually getting out there, it's something that will take its time to be featured in a large number of releases.
