I had 2 friends that worked for them in Seattle. One was in software development and they got all kinds of perks (free/discounted M$ stuff, great benefits, etc...) and it was a pretty laid back job. Another was a executive secretary and made bank w/ the same perks as a developer.
While I usually don't agree w/ Bladestar and I don't like M$ from a consumer standpoint, it is a good company to work for.
Except who dictates that? When does the next gen start? The 1st console? The 2nd?
Any 'recent' articles. You link an article that is bad, an article written in April and one written in Feb. w/ the most recent one saying that studios are pricing their bluray titles roughly the same as their dvd counters, which is good for br and bad for dvd.
That is the only reason why sales are even/up from last year. Gas prices are having an effect on spending, especially for extras like video game systems, HD TV's, and HD players. The stimulus check was used widely for getting some of these extras.
As the dollar keeps its descent, unemployment rises, the housing market keeps sinking, gas prices go up, etc... doesn't mean that the US will be spending $$$ like it did the same time last year.
Last gen tallies are still not in... the PS2 is still selling strong and has some incredible games on it.
Did anyone here finish FF7? The ending cutscene was an hour and I loved every minute of it.
If you hate installs you don't own a PS3
If you don't like cutscenes you won't like MGS4
I could have told you this 6 months ago...
Um no... the big advantage is that you don't have to upgrade your system every year or two to play the newest game, plus the advantage that it will run the same on your system as it does when you bring it over to a friends house.
Profit???? Um... the 360 cost them an extra 1 billion. Do you think they'll get out of that hole this gen or even next? Please... if you want to talk dollars a cents talk about the amount they are throwing at fixing the hardware. Then think about how they lost money on each console until late last year. 6 months of profit + Live + kickbacks + everything else is far far far less than the 1 billion it cost to fix the hw.
'The first of the Xbox 360 exclusive “Grand Theft Auto IV” episodes will be available beginning fall 2008.’
ummm when does that translate to 'released beginning of fall 2008'. That was never said. Fall 2008 can be as early as end of august and as late as early November. Is this really news?
And was made fun of for how much $$$ I spent on 'a movie player'. I feel like a freakin genius. No problems w/ any games from any gen.
It hasn't been a sony exclusive for a long time. Even VC was only a timed exclusive.
As for DMC, who needs DMC when GOW is one of the best third person action games ever and is exclusive. DMC4 was nothing to write home about when it was first released and is still only a slightly above average action game.
Warhawk
Nothing on live is even close.
Makes me want to go linux only. Probably will once xp is outdated...
I think it's US only.
Seriously, $500 million dollars in just startup? Any facts to base this on? They were charging people over $100 before they extended the warranty to 3 years and I would bet heavily that they were making a profit on that. They also threw a billion dollars a YEAR after launch meaning that a lot of 360's had already been thrown away, returned, or fixed and would not be included. IMO, those are a wash for the startup.
"Although Sony has Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, and Little Big Planet, the Xbox 360 lineup of games overall is much stronger."
Please...
The reason M$ didn't dispute the number is because 33% is probably lower. 1 Billion dollars was set aside for this issue. People were charging $50-$60 to fix a broken one, so let's assume it costs M$ $50 a console to fix.
$1 Billion / $50 = 20,000,000 which is EVERY SINGLE ONE OUT THERE!!!
and even if it costs $100 (which it 'could' w/ shipping, but I doubt it) means that 10 Million consoles would be affected, half of what's out there.
You don't ...
VGChartz isn't that bad. Is it perfect? Far from it, but they have been close in the past (+-10% on avg) so I think this gives a good 'indication' of sales.
Also, NPD isn't perfect either. Not all retailers report there either, so again, it is an estimate as well. A far better estimate, but an estimate nonetheless.
I'd wait until R* announces some numbers. They can't lie.
So three months ago there was no problem fixing the 60GB version, but now there is... is that tuna I smell? Well, whatever it is this article looks like straight up flamebait.
But M$ does have a monopoly on PC OS's. The competition they have is Linux, which is free and not particularily user friendly for the avg consumer, or Apple's OS, which you can't install on anything except a PC made by apple which is usually double the cost of a PC. So if you want a PC OS that is easy to use you have one option and that is Windows. Every PC manufacturer includes uses Windows and includes it in the cost of the PC. This is also by far their most profitable division.
