You guys are a joke and didn't even bother to read the article. Just blame the parents, or the kid, or the game...
If you actually read it you would have read that it was deemed an accident and there was nothing showing that he killed himself. They would NEVER do this in a suicide.
But at least they go back, make changes, and compile other sources of data for some pretty darn good historical data.
Does anyone here realize how difficult it is to get many large retailers to freely give their game sales on a week to week basis? It's hard enough for month to month.
Given that, their 'estimates' are not that bad. It may seem like they are pulling #'s out of their butt, but there is method to the madness including previous weeks/months data...
BUCKET FREAKIN HEAD!!!! HELL YEAH!!!
I just saw him over Memorial Day and was absolutely blown away. Complete virtuoso.
Stop acting like you know anything about read speeds of DVD vs Blu Ray. DVD is variable, meaning that it reads some parts as slow as 1x and the max read speed is almost never reached. Blu Ray is constant meaning that it will always be 2x, never more, never less. Ever hear your 360 spin real fast, slow down, then spin again... That's the variable speed because one half of the disc is read slower on a DVD and the other half is read slower on the BR. Basically it becomes a wash at 2x read sp...
Well thought out reply, bubbles.
Did Halo sell more its second week or its first week? How about GTA4?
It isn't the review that is so terrible. It's that he gives it so much praise during the review to knock it down 20% because of skippable cut scenes.

This is my favorite part in the little blurb:
"Guns of the Patriots is a beautiful game in an aesthetic sense, and it provides a fabulous showcase of the PlayStation 3's visual and aural attributes. Level environments are both varied and stunning to look at, character animation is unfailingly fluid and weighty, and atmospheric and elemental effects often pepper proceedings with added real-world authenticity. So it has great visual and audio, the level...
When those things are actually in use (like when playing a game) the thing just sucks battery.
I don't think Sony will put out a system to directly compete w/ it. Why would they? Blu-ray, HDD, wi-fi, browser... more expensive and no games. Everything the PS3 offered at the beginning of this gen and everyone knows how good that did, and it didn't even directly compare because the 360 didn't offer the same right out of the box. With them offering the same package there had better be some absolutely stunning games, visuals, and 'successful' non Halo franchises right out the door or pe...
"If you sell 1.4 units, and the week before you sold none, then you have a 140% increase."
No, you have an infinite increase and who sells 1.4 units?
100,000 units to 240,000 units is a 140% increase, and more than doubling the units sold is a big jump. Not only that, they shipped out less than the demand... You don't think that the bundle being sold out everywhere had something to do w/ it?
Secondly, this game is getting absolutely stu...
Sony has a bunch of first party studios. More than Nintendo and Microsoft combined and Nintendo RELIES on first party games and has since SNES. Sony has enough 1st party studios to put out at least 1 great game every 10-12 months, plus they help with exclusive titles.
If it costs money for developers to 'figure out' the PS3 it must also cost Sony to 'teach' it to them. However in Sony's eyes, why put that much effort into multiplatform when they see little to no benefit in i...
I have both, but buy my multiplats on my PS3 since there are 3 in my house. I bought one launch console, another as a blu-ray player, and my brother who rents a room from me just bought one.
My thinking is why buy games that you can only play in one place in the house when I could get it and play it in 3...
You make some very good points there, but the argument I make is... what other game were they going to get on the xbox? If you owned an xbox you had to at least own the first halo and usually both. Its the reason I bought an xbox, as well as many of my friends. The attach rate was so high because there were only a handful of really GREAT games, and those are two of them.
On the other hand you had the PS2 which had far more diverse collection of great games and gamers. I me...
Install, don't install, whatever... I'm not running out of space on either of my machines... These are one time installs... I pop it in, go grab a beer, roll up some 'preparation' and by the time its done installing I'm ready for beer #2 and a few hours of gaming.
Just keep kicking a dead horse. We get it. 360 lovers hate installs. PS3 owners don't care.
And the smoking thing... This is a mature game (17 or 18+) and if the player wants to go have a smoke they can. And if they don't smoke they won't.
Plus its a running joke since MGS1
But it really doesn't matter. You can't walk into ANY store and ask for a PC w/ a mac OS on it. I don't even know of any that have Linux on there. That means if you go buy a non-apple PC, M$ is getting some of that money because the OS is pre-installed on it. There's no choice in it, just like you can't choose who your power company is you can't choose an OS out of the box either. There's a word for that...
It hasn't been calm or organized since WWII... assuming you live in the US
You're calling the game in the middle of the third w/ a one run lead.
There's still a lot of years left... lots of stuff can happen. Something like Halo could strike either console. How do you know how much marketshare is lost or gained if last gen totals are still coming in?
I wasn't there, I didn't see the kid, I didn't do the autopsy. However, the person that was there (the father, police, etc...) and the coroner deemed that it was an accident. So unless you are the coroner and made a mistake when doing the autopsy why don't you STFU.
Accidents happen and it is a horrible tragedy when it does. My dad died 2 yrs ago because of accidental death. He knocked himself out and suffocated. It is completely immature to not only be incredibly insensit...
