The Finals are almost upon us. It is a game of teams competing against each other in this new and exciting multiplayer shooter with destructible terrain, different classes, and many guns and gadgets. The Finals are shaping up to be a fun time. Reasonably many owners of Steam Deck are wondering if they can play The Finals on their device. The game is after all going to be playable on the Steam platform. Read on and together we will find out if you can play The Finals on your Steam Deck after the game releases.
Is The Finals playable on Steam Deck?
The Finals ended their open Beta test on November 6, 2023, and the full game release is almost upon us. Sadly for the owners of Steam Deck, the game does not run on native Steam OS. Most likely this is caused by incompatibility of Steam OS with Easy Anti-Cheat software. For some reason, it appears that the two do not work well together.
It’s not all bad news for the owners of Steam Deck, however. There is a way for you to play The Finals on Steam Deck. You would have to install Windows OS and then launch The Finals from there. This solved this problem for players during the beta test.
All this might be addressed and fixed by the developers before the game’s release or in the future. But currently, there is no information on behalf of the developers on this subject.
What is a Steam Deck?
This handheld gaming computer was developed and released by Valve on February 25, 2022. The Steam Deck uses Valve’s SteamOS and it can also install and run Windows applications on it. The device can be used handheld or be connected through a docking station. Connecting Steam Deck to the monitor will allow you to use it as a desktop computer, or a home video game console if you connected it to a TV.
