Recently there have been several reports of a glitch – Pelican 1 only picking up one person and leaving immediately. We don’t know for sure why this happens. The most reasonable explanation is that it’s simply a bug. It probably is, but it’s also an efficient way to turn Helldivers 2 from PvE into PvP.
What’s Going on With Pelican 1?
As we know, Pelican 1 is the shuttle that picks you up after a mission. One of the most infuriating feelings is waiting for it to land. It doesn’t happen often, but we’ve all been there – inventory full of Rare Samples and the Pelican 1 that’s bugging out. Different players recounted their experiences. Some explained that even though Pelican 1 is supposedly indestructible, it can get damaged, and potentially destroyed. So if you see it smoking, or even starting to catch fire, run for it, there might still be a chance for you.
Several other players complained about untouched Pelican 1 bugging out, sometimes just hovering in the air. We haven’t experienced this yet and aren’t looking forward to it.
A player called cssoren expressed their frustration: ”Occasionally if we make Pelican 1 wait too long he will only extract 1 Helldiver and won’t give us the 20 second countdown and just leave. Lost tons of samples this way. Wtf? ”
Tips and Solutions for Stranded Helldivers
Unfortunately, until this quirk is straightened out and fixed, no one can find a solution for this problem. One helpful Redditor found a potential temporary solution. Reggie-Quest says: ”…Lately I’ve just been informing the team on the mic to let the Super Sample player on first, just in case. ” We agree – better safe than sorry!
Several other solutions have been suggested – ranging from a voice-over announcing that Pelican 1 is damaged and leaving, to simply being allowed to request another one if the first one has been destroyed.
