There are a lot of different missions in Helldivers 2. You can defend civilians, hunt and eliminate enemy elites, or destroy enemy supply bases, just to name a few. Speaking of the last one, those bases are quite sturdy, and if you do not want to waste Orbital Strikes to destroy them, there is a special Stratagem to help you in that regard. So, read on to see how to get a Hellbomb in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2: How to Get a Hellbomb
Hellbomb is a mission-specific Stratagem, that becomes available when certain criteria are met. You cannot “choose” it before a mission. Usually, you’ll get the option to call in a Hellbomb if you approach a Rogue Research Station Secondary Objective, or the Fuel and Ammo Silos, if you are doing the “Sabotage Supply Bases” missions (found on Automaton planets). Once you get close enough, the Hellbomb Stratagem will be available to you.
Open your Stratagem menu (Ctrl on the keyboard), type in the required code (Down, Up, Left, Down, Up, Right, Down, Up), and throw the beacon wherever you want the Hellbomb to drop. Note that Hellbomb is not an Orbital strike of any sort. It is more like a supply drop where after a couple of seconds, a pod with a Hellbomb will drop, and you have to activate it.
How to Activate a Hellbomb in Helldivers 2
To activate a Hellbomb, simply approach it, and you’ll see a console that you can interact with. It will require you to type in a code (just like when you want to extract, for example). Once you do so, it will begin to beep. You have around 10 seconds to put as much distance between you and the bomb. Usually, just leaving the station/supply base is enough, but you should find some cover to get behind, just in case.
It is best to drop a Hellbomb in the middle of the compound you wish to destroy, so you can get all the buildings in one go. If some still stand after the explosion, don’t worry, you can call in a new bomb after a short while.
