Best Ways to Farm XP Fast in Helldivers 2

Trying to figure out the best ways to farm XP fast and level up in Helldivers 2? You’re not alone. Stick around for details about what you can do to earn as much XP as possible and gain levels quickly.

Helldivers 2 has earned overwhelming success in its first week available on PC and PlayStation consoles. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony, the sci-fi third-person shooter beat out massive competitors like Palworld, and devs are doing what they can to continue giving the player base what they want for the long haul. The game follows up the original Helldivers, placing the task of defending Super Earth from alien invaders in your hands. As you level up along the way, you’ll gain greater access to new weapons and perks. Here’s how to farm XP fast and level up in Helldivers 2.

How to Farm XP and Level Up Fast in Helldivers 2

Depending on your end goal, there are a few reliable methods to farm XP and level up fast in Helldivers 2. Fortunately, there’s an ideal route for every playstyle, though you can always mix things up to keep the session interesting. In the end, you’ll earn handy rewards and unlock sought-after Stratagems like the Railgun after some time spent grinding. Let’s break down the best ways to rack up XP quickly.

  • Play on Higher Difficulties – By completing operations on higher difficulties, you’ll rack up a significant amount of XP in one fell swoop. Granted, you’ll quite literally need to start from the bottom at Trivial. However, working up to the intimidating Helldiver difficulty pays handsomely in the long run. Complete missions and repeat to unlock tougher levels and scale the ranks in no time.
  • Complete Side Objectives – During missions, it’s in your best interest to put some effort into completing side objectives along the way. This will add bonus XP to the total you earned by completing the base mission. This is also a reliable means to earn Requisition Slips, which can then be exchanged for Stratagems. Be sure to extract from the mission once completed, as this will add a bit more XP to your overall total as well.
  • Spam Fast & Easy Extermination Missions – While the task can prove tedious after some time, spamming quick and easy Extermination missions is a great way to level up quickly. Playing on lower difficulties will allow you to perform speedruns of sorts, picking up a decent amount of XP each time. Ideally, you should aim to complete missions with shorter time limits to effectively farm XP fast in Helldivers 2.

Best Ways to Farm XP in Helldivers 2

We found that, from the methods offered above, playing on higher difficulties is the best way to farm XP. The higher the difficulty level, the greater the multiplier on the end. It multiplies your experience and requisiton, gained at the end of the mission. While playing on Trivial and Easy is awesome for farming Samples and Super Credits, the XP gained is not that much. For example, an Easy mission will net you around 500XP, while a difficulty seven, Suicide Mission, will net you around 4000XP.

So, we recommend playing those longer missions (ie, not those short, “defend” missions, with no Secondaries), and doing all Secondary Mission that you can find. Destroying Outposts will also net you some XP, but not as much as Secondaries. Mission time contributes the least experience, so no need to hurry up, the difference will not be that much.

The best missions for this are Blitz missions. Lasting about 10 minutes, they have a straightforward Primary Objective and some Secondary Objectives scattered about on a smaller map. They are also great if you are looking for those Super Uranium Samples.

Is There a Double XP Event?

Interestingly enough, Arrowhead has never given the famous “double XP weekend” to the players, or anything similar. A lot of online games offer events like that from time to time, to keep the playerbase engaged, but Helldivers 2 devs have never done such a thing.

It was probably due to the high number of active players that were playing Helldivers 2 until recently. Now, when the player count has dropped, we may actually see some similar events.
