When choosing your Loudout, you have to think about quite a number of things. You, usually, have to have something to deal with light enemies, some Support Weapons for those pesky heavies, and a couple of orbitals. And let’s not forget explosives, to close those Bug Holes and destroy Automaton Fabricators. With a number of Grenades to choose from, picking the best one can be tricky. So, here is our Helldivers 2 best Grenades tier list.
Helledivers 2: Best Grenades Tier List
Grenades are used predominantly to deal with groups of enemies, and to destroy enemy spawning points, ie, Bot Fabricators and Bug Holes. That is not to say that Grenades cannot offer some utility instead of simply dealing damage. With all that in mind, we have compiled a tier list of Grenades, based on their ability to eliminate targets, either by dealing damage or by their utility.

Top 3 Grenades in Helldivers 2
We have singled out three Grenades that we deem a cut above the rest. Of course, this is based solely on our own knowledge, and your experience may be completely different.
G-12 High Explosive
- Damage – 400
- Penetration – 004
- Outer Radius – 007
- Fuse Time – 3.5sec
The standard Grenade you start the game with, it is still one of the best. G-12 High Explosive is a perfect balance of damage, armor penetration, and blast radius. Moreover, you can “cook” it before throwing it, to lower the fuse time (just try not to blow yourself up). It is the number one choice for destroying Bot Fabricators and Bug Holes.
G-16 Impact
- Damage – 400

- Fuse Time – 0sec
The G-16 Impact is almost identical to the standard-issue High Explosive Grenade. The main difference is that it does not have a fuse time. Rather, it explodes as soon as it comes into contact with anything. This makes it very effective in chaotic firefights since the bomb will explode as soon as it hits something. Great when targeting groups of enemies, before they even get the chance to separate. Especially against Automatons, since it will explode on hit, usually near the head or the exhaust (weak point), and not fall somewhere where the explosion will only hit the armored part.
It does have its drawbacks and many Helldivers died due to Impact Grenades exploding too close to them. Especially with suicidal Terminid Leapers jumping in front of you the moment you throw the grenade. Where this Grenade is lacking is the ability to close Bug Holes and destroy Bot Fabricators. Since it explodes on impact, it requires some skill (and luck) to throw it down the hole and not hit the edge/wall.
G-23 Stun
- Damage – 0

- Fuse Time – 1.8sec
A Grenade that does no damage but makes up for it by sheer utility. The G-23 Stun Grenade will, unsurprisingly, stun everything in its effect radius, instead of dealing damage. While not very useful against weaker enemies, where a simple explosion will do the trick, the Stun Grenade shines against medium-armored and heavy-armored enemies (usually Automatons). While a single explosive grenade will not do much against them, the Stun grenade will stop nearby enemies for a couple of seconds, giving you ample time to shoot at their unmoving weak points.

This Grenade is great for stopping Hulks for a few seconds, allowing you or, better yet, a teammate to shoot the now-exposed exhaust vent. Unfortunately, since it does not deal damage, it cannot close Bug Holes or wreck Bot Fabricators. But, you can pair it with the Grenade Pistol, for maximum efficiency.
