I think you shall find that the studios prefer the ease coding for the interactive features on HD DVD more so than java on blu-ray ( This is the source of the problems they are having!), the features are not just subtitles but loads of additional footage that can be accessed on the fly with picture in picture support. don't forget that HD DVD's lone exclusive supporter is Universal which do have some awesome movies in their libary. HD DVD is using VC-1 codec for most of their films which agai...
Because HD DVD's the majority of the time are slightly better in quality compared to their blu-ray counterparts ( just browse the internet for reviews!) and there is a standard within the HD DVD community that has been set so that all companies that release on HD DVD have to abide by to ensure the utmost quality to the consumer, these include interactive features which BLU-RAY is having problems with, interactive features on HD DVD so far surpass blu-ray in quality. HD DVD is cheaper to produ...
I'm not nervous that we don't have blu-ray on the 360, i have never given it a second thought! I don't see a problem with using more discs and to be honest i'm having loads of fun with games on one disc at the moment and I'm sure others will agree!
Have you ever played with a 360 joypad for a long amount of time, after a full recharge it lasts me 1 to 3 weeks no problem depending on how much I use it, not 2 hours! I think it's a shame the ps3 has no rumble. it's off-putting and if you want proper ,more fun motion control you get a wii.
I did'nt think the playback on the 360 dvd was all that good until I recentley got a 37" HDTV, I set the console to 1080i and now dvd's look awesome, not quite HD standard ( I have a HD DVD add-on) but upscaled nicely. I think this artcle is utter tripe!, I think it depends soley on what equipment you are using it with.
There is nintendo you know, anyhow i feel that we nearly had a complete sony monoply in the games industry a few years back. sony killed sega, nearly killed nintendo and then went after the only thing that was keeping nintendo alive....the gameboy with the psp. well done to nintendo and microsoft for creating a really exciting time in games today! I for one would love to see sony brought down a few pegs.
I'm quite happy with it, I have a 37" toshiba hdtv and dvd playback looks awesome, My brother has a samsung 40" hdtv and he feels the same. I have not noticed any jaggies apart from on older dvd's.
I can't afford a PS£ nor would I want one for Blu-ray, If HD -DVD players prices fall soon, below the magical margin that non-gamer consumers percieve as being acceptable to pay for the next generation DVD playback, more will sell and movie studios will have to support it. If you were J Bloggs and you were looking for HD playback and one player did the same job as the other for nearly half the price which would you pay for?. If it was'nt for more movie studios being in bed with sony over...
the PS£ is a Blu-ray trojan horse in bid for sony to monopolise the movie industry. I'm sorry but I'm not paying more for Blu-ray when HD-DVD does the same job cheaper, I hope people can see the sense in that!
There is another side to this article from the HD DVD perspective and it is titled "HD DVD: Blu-ray Camp Spreads Lies, Misinformation" check it out! + I thought universal were only supporting HD DVD?. anyway, I'm not going to be forced by any company to have to pay more for blu-ray when I can have HD DVD cheaper now for less and it does the same thing. The PS£ is a blu-ray trojan horse. P.S I have the HD DVD add on and it rocks! If everyone buys the cheaper standalone HD DVD dr...
The Ps2 won against sega's efforts with the dreamcast because it had much more money to chuck at game exclusives and timed exclusives than sega. It started with the saturn and games like tomb raider, sega did not have a chance against sonys economic clout! things are differnet now though.. come on microsoft!
5 million, Big deal!
But personally I would not believe half the rubbish the Blu ray camp at CES said, It's business as usual to over-inflate the picture and declare Blu-ray the winner like they did at CES, especially when sony are concerned. The HD DVD camp remained positive too and so it should. I and many others are trying to get hold of these HD-DVD add-ons and I'm sure if they could make enough MS would have sold even more. Mine turned up today and I have ordered 3 Movies to go on the list of total HD DVDs s...
This is another misleading marketing trick and precisley why I go out of my way to avoid anything to do with sony. HD DVD for me thankyou.
I have spent a lot of time playing this game since it was released and it's a game I still pick-up and play often, especially the multiplayer...simple but fun! It only looks good on a HD TV though, I thought it looked not much different to an xbox game when viewed on a normal CRT TV but I changed my mind when I upgraded to HD. should be good if the PS3 gets it, but I hope it does'nt.... sorry!
I can not afford to buy a bluray player, it's as simple as that! I will not be forced by Sony and it's movie backers to buy into a more expensive format that does the same job! consumers..vote HD DVD with your wallets now before it's too late!
It seems like bluray could win this war now but I hope i'm wrong, I'm going to buy the HD DVD add-on because it's cheaper and I like the extra features on the discs, But I feel that bluray is ultimatley being forced upon consumers, and the PS3 is the key, HD DVD was doing well until the PS3 launched. I'm annoyed because I have a HD TV and I want to watch HD movies, but I cannot afford a Bluray player and I would'nt buy a sony product ie the PS3 if they paid me( for my own good reasons). so I'...
xbox 360 was still like trying to get gold dust this time last year, apparentley the same cannot be said for the PS3.
but im going to reply anyway and say that I have had good experience with microsoft customer support and would praise them highly.
Blu ray is not that far ahead now, Hd dvd is top again in the top 10. It just goes to show how quickly things can turn around and to be honest, given the amount of blu-ray players out there over hd dvd hidden in the ps3, sales of blu ray should be far higher than this. If I was sony I'd be worried. HD DVD has better standardization and studios prefer ihd over java for use with the interactive features as it is less problematic, this is the reason that hd dvd titles have a much better interact...
