my computer isnt as good to run it and im thinking an arcade is $200 bucks, ive been looking at this and it looks cool. this and demons souls.

Both are great games. ME2 is like the first but with amazing gameplay revamps. I just put 50 hours into it last week. I don't buy DLC but did for this game.

Demon's souls is modern Gauntlet. It has many more RPG elements like character leveling/inventory/armor/weapo n upgrades than ME2 but weaker story. It's got heavy and entertaining combat too but more spell/melee based unless you do bows. ME2 is heavy FPS style. They're both great depending on your preference.

MH3 reminds me a lot of Demon's Souls if you have a wii.

Mass Effect 2 is like Mass Effect without the RPG elements. It's an action shooter with minimal character development, zero inventory management, and episodic missions. Totally killed the series for me.

I've spent the past 3 days playing Final Fantasy XIII, and must say it's one of my favorites in the series. I am aware that the first 20-25 hours are very linear, but it tells a DAMN good story with a lot of emotion and strong characterization. The battle system is fun, and fights definitely get more difficult as you get deeper in to the game. I'm not finished yet, but this is my favorite game of 2010 so far.

I hate it when they use Metacritic for these types of list.

Resonance of Fate is my favorite 2010 RPG so far. Challenging yet strategically demanding gameplay, quirky humor, great characters, customization, lots of side-quests, etc.

Leupac5103d ago

Well I had to put a lot of thought into it because if I did my own list of personal favorites it would have been too biased. Though I would have put Resonance of Fate in it for sure, that's why I listed it in the honorable mentions.

Zeevious5103d ago

What Metacritic needs to make it a better guide is Olympic style ranking: Drop the highest & lowest scores...Then add up the totals. It's a fair system to eliminate bias in Olympic games...So why not in ours?

Oh...did anyone see 6 bubbles lying around here? I would swear I had all 9, right here next to my name just a week ago...

I must have dropped them in the server room during the upgrade.

A dragon age expansion beat Monster Hunter?

Homicide5103d ago

Just checked. Monster Hunter Tri has a higher average than Dragon Age Awakening.

Leupac5103d ago

Sorry but do you guys check what it was listed as? Genre(s): Third-Person Action, Adventure

asdr3wsfas5103d ago (Edited 5103d ago )

I understand that classification, but it's like calling Demon's Souls or Diablo 3rd person action, adventure. The story is minimal in each of them and there's no character input.

dtalon35103d ago

Mass Effect is amazing...easily in my top 3 favorite franchises and also easily THIS Gens best original IP. This all of course is my personal opinion.

The_Zeitgeist5103d ago

Anyone notice there is a severe lack of RPG's on all systems this gen.

Leupac5102d ago

Last gen they were pumping out RPGs like crazy, they really slowed down though. Probably due to the audience growing more social with online.

They're just on DS and PSP

2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
