Greg Howsen of guardian.co.uk writes: Like most gamers over 30 I've got a nostalgic bond with Mario and Metroid. Actually, given the high quality of the 2002's Metroid Prime and 2007's Super Mario Galaxy, admiration for the pair is not just limited to the old timers. But with most traditional gamers better catered for on the 360 and PS3 will the release of new Mario and Metroid titles tempt them back to the Wii?
With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty coming soon, it's time to look back at the developer's greatest triumphs...and one oddball favorite.
Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime reflects on Metroid: Other M and his initial high hopes for the game.
Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.
VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."
Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.
the games are gonna sell anyways
I think some hardcore gamers will see these games and go "wow." They might even spring for a wii, but the majority don't just want one or two games to pick up, then have to wait two more years for something else new.
Good looking games either way.
All I know is I'm going to be quite the happy gamer with these upcoming games as well as others that weren't mentioned.
Nintendo doesn't usually have much trouble selling their core first-party titles.
Metroid is an exception. It has never really been the kind of blockbuster that Mario is, and it doesn't get the across-the-spectrum love that Zelda does.
Other M is a risk. And a very intriguing one, at that.
I JUST REALLY WANT NINTENDO TO MAKE A "REAL" MARIO KART GAME THATS
NOT FOR KINDERGARDENERS....I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A MARIOKART WII
GAME THAT PLAYED LIKE THE 64 VERSION...THAT'D BE AMAZING..O WELL
