German hardware sales for April 2007 and total hardware sales

The NPD released the hard- and software sales from April yesterday and today we have the German hardware sales from April 2007. Just like in America, Canada and Japan the Nintendo Wii is outselling both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in April.

Hardware sales April 2007:

1. Nintendo Wii - 20,000
2. Playstation 3 -16,000
3. Xbox 360 - 9,500

We also have the total hardware sales from all three next-gen systems since launch. The Xbox 360 is still leading, but with a year headstart on the Nintendo Wii, which is gaining fast. The Playstation 3 is also doing well with over 70,000 systems in 2 months. Though the Xbox 360 isn't selling well because AAA games like Gears of War, Dead Rising, Saints Row, Crackdown & C&3 have been banned in Germany because they are to violant.

Total hardware sales:

1. Xbox 360 - 262,000 (Since December 2005)
2. Nintendo Wii - 222,000 (Since December 2006)
3. Playstation 3 - 70,500 (Since March 2007)

not really to good is it...

did the original Xbox and PS2 do well in Germany?

Tommie6202d ago (Edited 6202d ago )

According to VGChartz the Xbox sold 770,000 units from launch (2002) till whole of 2006. The Playstation 2 sold 4,67 million units from lauch (2001) till whole of 2006. Plus the Gamecube sold 950,000 units from lauch (2002) till whole of 2006.

TheMART6202d ago

Plus, only Germany isn't that interesting. The whole of Europe is more though.

Having roughly 6k more in sales compared to NA 360 outselling the PS3 by 100k every month, now that makes the difference.

So I am really curious about the latest Europe overal sales if they can make up to the NA 360 extra sales. Now gimme the popcorn!

Kyur4ThePain6202d ago

convinced...you don't like the 360, you just don't ike the PS3.

Maddens Raiders6202d ago

using the timeline as perspective in the article: Your God (the 360) is getting Pwned pretty hard by the wii in avery short period of time, and the PS3 ain't bad either. It's actually a little embarrassing to be honest. Check the micro mate; I think you're popcorn is burning.

xfrgtr6202d ago

Stop crying TheMart!!!!!I told you the 360 is a DISASTER in Europe

bootsielon6201d ago

...because they don't buy Xbox 360. As borat would say, The mart has "...a very funny retardation".

the good games are all banned... gears of war, dead rising, ghost recon.... all banned because of the rating system. there just aren't that many good reasons to own a 360 in germany (except the price)

achira6202d ago

you are wrong geow is not here, ok, but the rest is.

eques judicii6202d ago

http://www.joystiq.com/2006...

and same with gears of war... those were major system sellers and if they aren't there then why buy the system?

kewlkat0076202d ago

and their RATING system? They miss out a lot.

WilliamRLBaker6202d ago (Edited 6202d ago )

Well it is but its more complex then that, Many of the laws in germany..ect are created out of shame and fear of past events (it doesn't take an einstein to figure what im talking bout) and because of that fear and shame they make really silly mistakes in law making there, Because they look at the rest of the world and preceive what laws they should make, Yet most of the laws they have aren't any where near like what they got in the rest of the world...

Edit: then gain the rest of the world has some really weird laws....Like here in indiana, your not allowed to own a sheep if your a single male over the age of 21....lol

Lumbo6202d ago (Edited 6202d ago )

i don't understand where you get your strange ideas regarding the german media rating standards.

Germany as itself did NOT "ban" Gears of War, they only told MS that the game will get a 18+ rating (comparable to the US "M" rating) because of the violence driven gameplay.

It was the decision of Microsoft NOT to release the game in germany cause Microsoft does not sell anything with a rating higher than 16+ ("Teen" in the US rating).

So yes, Gears of War was never released in germany, not cause it was banned, but cause Microsoft did not want to release with a mature label on it.
the only thing that gets 'forbidden' is stuff that is promoted via Nazi symbolism. And that is for understandable historical reasons. Whereas "banned" only means you can not put it on shelves, aka sell from behind the counter, and that you can not advertise it. But nowadays hardly anything is 'banned' as everything is rated, and once rated its not gonna get banned.

Coffin876202d ago (Edited 6202d ago )

and i'm PROUD to be one of the 70,500 since march.

comparison:
360: 262,000 in 1 1/2 years
ps3: 70,500 in 2 months

guess who's going to win here ...

kewlkat0076202d ago

"360: 262,000 in 2 1/2 years"

Has the 360 been out that long...sheesh I always thought europe got the shaft after everyone else.

WilliamRLBaker6202d ago (Edited 6202d ago )

thanks for the change on that time date.

Coffin876202d ago

sh*t your right. i change it.

Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider pours scorn on EA's AI dreams.

"They want you to believe the devs under them are super stoked to work generative AI into their processes," continued Gaider, "but I assure you what they took as excitement was really a veiled wail of despair not unlike the time that team was informed of their new 'really cool' live service mandate.".

This ship was never meant to sail, this ship was made from the get go to sink as fast as possible. It almost feels that they want to lower the standards of quality in the industry so that they can fit in

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga10h ago(Edited 10h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow1d 4h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1829h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

OtterX12h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Tody_za11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno10h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno8h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.
