Speculation: Could Project V1 be Viewtiful Joe?

Who's to say that Project V1 couldn't be hinting at a revival of Capcom's Viewtiful Joe series? Other than the odd tone and pulse of the website itself, it seems to stack up pretty nicely.

Henshin a go go baby!

Would love for this to be true but even if it is I just know that the CAPCOM from nowadays would just find a way to ruin it.

I've always loved a remake for the Vita though. The handheld is just perfect for a platform game like this one.

wonderfulmonkeyman3620d ago

I would like to see a new Viewtiful Joe come to the Wii U, so that would be a great announcement to hear about.
Given the success of Monster Hunter 4, I think that Capcom can see there's still profit to be made with Nintendo when they do things right, so here's hoping....

WeAreLegion3620d ago

Even if it is, I'm not sure any of Capcom's current teams could do the series justice. :/ Even if Platinum somehow got the rights, I don't know if I would trust them. They've been pretty meh for me lately.

Neonridr3619d ago

Viewtiful Joe and Wonderful 101 share so much already. It would be an easy transition.

kakashi813620d ago (Edited 3620d ago )

@wearelegion,Metal gear rising was a pretty good game bro. Platinum did the best they could.

WeAreLegion3619d ago

It was decent, but going from Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami to Metal Gear Rising and The Wonderful 101 is mildly depressing, in my opinion. They're good games, but nowhere near what they're capable of.

Turns out this was just some stunt for a Dutch gaming blog. Move along.

Second Sight was a really cool game at the time.

GaboonViper650d ago

Without doubt for me it would be Eternal Darkness, one of the best videogames ever made IMO.

sweendog650d ago

Eternal darkness was phenomenal. I remember panicking when I got an error code pop up and then it looked like all my saves had wiped off my memory card. That game would play with your mind.

GaboonViper650d ago

HAHA same, so sad we probably wont ever see a sequel.

Orbilator649d ago

Yeah loved it to, getting it all and getting the purple rune was great never felt like a chore. The only other game that I really enjoyed as much was starfox adventures. Great game

Mobis-New-Nest650d ago

Paper Mario Thousand Year Door is just incredible, I really hope Nintendo will do a remaster or remake of it.

ZeekQuattro650d ago

Big fan of Gotcha Force. A true hidden gem that rarely gets mentioned. It played a lot like Federation Vs. Zeon which is one or my favorite PS2 games.

IanTH649d ago

No Paper Mario, Geist, or Eternal Darkness is surprising. Games like Second Sight can at least be played on other platforms, but some of those games are exceedingly expensive (should you want to play them on original hardware). I've got a handful of them, but Gotcha Force will sadly never end up in my collection at $700 for a CIB copy.

Article is on point having Dino Crisis and rival schools but i would add...

Parasite Eve
Strider
Devil Survivor
Onimusha
Siren
Fear effect
Megaman X
Jet Set Radio

And those are just the ones i can think of right now.

MadLad967d ago

I remember being really hyped in highschool when they were talking about doing more JetSet; then nothing came of it and radio silence.
Still some of the best soundtracks in gaming.

Another Fear Effect would be awesome too. A very underrated game that not many talk about anymore.

AM_Thorn967d ago

Jet Set Radio was actually on the original list of 10.

https://www.heypoorplayer.c...

A lot of the others were too recent to meet the date cut off I set, I was really looking for series that had been gone awhile.

Parasite Eve had The Third Birthday release 11 years ago.
The most recent Strider game was only 7 years ago.
Devil Survivor 2 was only 9 years ago.
Onimusha Soul released in 2012. I considered not counting mobile games but I was looking for series that publishers aren't even trying to get anything out of.
Siren is close but the last installment was 13 years ago. Honestly was never into the series though so likely wouldn't have made it regardless. Definitely know it has its fans though.
Fear Effect Sedna stunk but was a new game and was only 3 years ago.
Mega Man X I kind of counted as part of the larger Mega Man series, though even if I didn't the new mobile game would probably have kept it off the list.

Lots of great choices there though. I'd love to see a new installment of most of them.

MadLad967d ago

For some reason I got Cold Fear and Fear Effect mixed up when I made my comment lol.

I'd like to see another Cold Fear. Even a remake would be great.

Knightofelemia967d ago (Edited 967d ago )

Xenosaga, Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono franchise with Cross and Trigger, Resistance, Xenogears, Twisted Metal, Silent Hill, Turok, Ar Tonelico, Ar Nosurge, Breath of Fire, Siren, Clock Tower, Kid Icarus, Splatterhouse, Enslaved Journey to the West I love that game such a sleeper hit it so needs a sequel.

garos82967d ago (Edited 967d ago )

My picks would be

- Soul Reaver
- Viewtiful Joe
- SSX
- Onimusha
- Capcom vs Snk 3
- Playstation Allstars Battle royal

Relientk77967d ago

Kudos for putting Tactics Ogre on the list. I have no idea why we aren't getting a new one, or Final Fantasy Tactics for that matter too.

Z501967d ago

For me.
1. Vagrant Story
2. Guardian Herores
3. Tenchu
4. Omega Boost

VersusDMC967d ago

You almost got a new Tenchu but it turned into Sekiro as that was From Software's plan at first.
