With the launch of the Wii U, Nintendo finally ventured into HD gaming. This is something the PS 3 and Xbox 360 have been doing for a very long time now. The Nintendo Wii was not capable of full HD gaming when it came out so it was left behind as the other consoles gained more ground in the console HD gaming race. But, now that the Wii U has launched with the ability to do this right out of the box is it too late to the party? I hope not.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
back in 2007 wiiu would have cost a fortune. probably £800 and more.
great idea.
Thepcz- thanks for the compliment. Just thought i should drop an article on that. To all those who will comment on this. Pls let's keep it modest. No name calling and insults plzzzzzz! We are all friends here ;-)
being a cat hater, this guy fails in life, and not just a console launch
No it's not, the Wii was a fantastic console. Yeah the graphics may not have been as pretty as the other consoles that generation but it had some really great games and some developers when they really put in the effort made games with great graphics such as Metroid Prime. Yes the best games were 1st party that was because most developers are too lazy to make a great game for a console that they'd have to put some effort into. The Wii was what the Wii should have been and the Wii U is what the Wii U should be.
the wiiu simply wouldn't have nor could have existed in 2006/7.
in 2007, tablet pcs looked like this- http://cache.gizmodo.com/as...
and apple didnt release the first i pad until 2010.
the wiiu incorporates elements of the tablets success, so unless nintendo had a time machine, they wouldn't have ever made a wiiu in 2006/7.
ie, the wiiu is a modern gaming machine influenced by the modern day. the world was different in 2006/7, tablet devices weren't as popular, and the 'ipad' template of what a tablet looks like today, simply wasn't around.
so wiiu in 2007 is simply a fantasy. hollywood stuff.
plus, there has been an evolution in gaming- nintendo ushered in the new era of gaming with the wiis motion control. ps3/360 fans quickly rubbished it but what happened? move and kinekt.
with ps4 and 720, these methods of control will be standard. so the wii was ahead of the game.
so although it may seem as if the wii was not pushing any boundaries, it in fact was, but it takes one step at a time. same with wiiu.
tablet like controllers WILL be the new standard in gaming. you cant have motion control, tablet controllers with cameras, high end graphics, and cutting edge specs all at once, it would cost a fortune.
thats why nintendo offers these innovations 'modestly,' when the price of tech comes down, then you will get the high end graphics to match the high end control method.
as i said in my previous reply, wiiu in 2007 would have cost the earth, and frankly, it would have been from the future
