Twilight Princess is a better game than Ocarina of Time (Bitmob)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess seems to improve on everything about Ocarina of Time. So what's keeping Twilight Princess from being an all-time fan favorite?

OoT was the first 3D Zelda and was a lot of kids' first Zelda.

The ONLY reason why it is "the best Zelda EVARRRR" is because a large number of insecure gamers are terrified of admitting that their childhood friend has been surpassed by newer Zelda titles.

you people are acting exactly how those other haters act when someone mentions FFVII. Stop hating on things just because they are popular.

OoT was great 10 years ago and it still great 10 years later with amazing reviews and public reception. That's something not many games can achieve and that should be enough prove that your statement is based on misconception and the fact that you're just hatin on something because is popular.

Do you people have any idea why "Citizen Kane" is considered to be the best movie ever created? Have any of you really thought how much the gameplay mechanics in the Zelda series have evolved since OoT?

And on a side note: Wii sales were always high, they never went up because of a game (unless you consider the Wii-fit a game?) like saying Halo on the Xbox or MGS4 on PS3.

OoT is not the better Zelda game.
It was the first 3D Zelda and many people's first Zelda game, yes. It's a really great Zelda game, but not "teh best".
It's a similar case with FF7.

Ocarina of Time was a better game because it was Revolutionary and entirely new in concept. You can't call something better if it attempts to replicate what was already done. On top of which, the Wolf Transformation was forced upon you ever so often, and players prefer being Link the entire game.

I actually didn't mind the wolf sections, but otherwise I agree.

You can argue over which Zelda game is best, and the argument will be totally subjective and meaningless, because being "good" or "better" is incredibly hard to pin down.

However, what is clear that that Ocarina of Time was more revolutionary than Twilight Princess. Most of the core mechanics used by TP (and hundreds of other 3rd person 3D games) were created or perfected by OoT. That's why it gets so much praise.

Nope, everything from the dungeons, the world, and the characters were amazing in OOT. Great graphics for its time and I can still play it today without wanting to stab my eyes out unlike most early 3d games.
The music and gameplay was perfect and the time traveling was the best dual world feature out of all the Zeldas. Its become tradition for me to complete this game yearly and I am still not sick of it. To me the game as a whole package is as close to perfect more than any other game.

Great game but Ocarina of time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker were better imo.

Its widely known amongst fans that Twilight Princess was the weaker title, Even Shigero Miyamoto admitted that it didn't turn out how he'd hoped. Most fans don't play Zelda hoping the next game is better than the last we play for the unique experience Zelda games offer and if any of the next titles do turn out better than Ocarina of time then that would be Great.

I didn't even finish Twilight Princess... Ont the other hand I beat Ocarina at least... 5-6 times... Including my 3DS version. Maybe it was the shitty motion controls on the Wii that turned me off. At least Skyward Sword looks like it was built for the motion controller, from the ground up, so it will be a much better experience. Ocarina is and always will be the best.

a) Wii version is a mirror. The GC version is the original version, with left handed (normal) link and the overall layout as the developers intended the game to have.

b) waggling sucks. It doesn't follow your movements, just triggers a preset animation, thus the Wii version is simply the GC version which takes more effort.

c)I have both versions and the graphics are pretty much identical. I can't see any differences anyway.

The only benefit to the Wii version is you can put it in a widescreen. Which is nice I suppose.

Zelda OoT is revolutionary for being the first 3D Zelda game ever and the game returned again in next gen 3D glory aka the 3DS. OoT is far more phenomenal than that of Twilight Princess, in my opinion anyway. Nice article though.

hm,.. I loved it (twilight princess),.. Than, I played much older Okami,.. It is funny, that the game that was so heavily inspired by Zelda,.. had entire first Village layout and the whole wolf theme basically stolen by Nitty,..

To people who like Twilight Princess ,.. do try out Okami,.. (use Z for straight lines, if you play it on Wii) It is a far better game, it really is,.. And Twilight Princess is an awesome game by itself,..

GOD i cant wait to get a 3ds to play OOT . im 31 yrs old and never got to play it when i was younger didn't own a 64 barely could keep up with my playstation but man am i dying to play this in that sleek 3ds screen . im glad nintendo re released this just cant wait AAAGGGGGHHHH

I respectfully disagree with the author's opinion. OoT was the better game (but neither is as good as Link to the Past!) I wish I had played Twilight Princess on the GC because I couldn't STAND using the Wii controller.

Okay, people keep saying that it OoT was the first 3D zelda. So what! Sure, it might have been the most important title in the series but that doesn't mean it has to be the best. Everything about TP was better (you can deny it, but it is the truth). Hyrule is bigger, fuller, and more beautiful in TP. Link looked 10 times better in TP. And the knock out punch. TP was SO much longer. You can run through OoT in less than three days, 2 if you play it on the 3DS. It is good to respect the old, but it is also good to award the new with what it deserves. But at the end of the day, your favorite zelda is your favorite zelda. We can't label which one is really best, that is for you to decide.

I never had to force myself to play OoT. TP isn't bad, but it just didn't have the magic that OoT had for me.
