That's interesting...

First, they don't say you own anything...

So why would they take the time to write licenses if they have no ability for recourse?

I doubt they want to create employment for lawyers... Or waste money on printed pages that cost money to print...

People buy music online and it is DRM controlled and do not allow resale.

People buy movies online and they are DRM controlled and do not allow resale.

People have iPhones, Android phones, and Windows phones that are DRM controlled and do not allow resale of purchased apps.

The only reason that people don't like DRM on consoles is that it changes the status quo of used, lending, and rentals...

So what?

I can't remember the last time my console was not connected for a 24 hour period... That is true for 95% of console gamers.

Call it whatever you want... It really don't matter because your not buying an X1...

The price will help it in year one...

But unless Sony can keep bringing the price down when MS does they will hurt later.

Every time there is a price drop announcement console sales spike. By pricing PS4 so low out of the gate, they are not leaving themselves a lot of room to keep sales up through price drops.

Read the end user license agreement of both 360 and PS3 games today... Technically you don't own them neither.

You are only granted a license to use it.

MS is not overdoing it. MS states that once you put the game in you X1 on your account you own it both on disc and in the cloud.

That means two things... First, they must keep validating that you own it (They have chosen 24 hrs.)... Second, that means you own the game according to MS marketplace. You no longer have to purchase the digital copy as well. Buy once and you own both the cloud and disc version.

If I buy a PS4 and the publishers implement DRM, ...

There were rumours that there would be very limited supply of X1...

This is just confirmation of that. I doubt X1 is selling better than PS4...

Games are more important to me then anything else. That is a gamer mantra... Why has that changed all of a sudden? Games win the day...

As for the spying... OMG... You read too many conspiracy novels. Kinect does not spy... Kinect simply is waiting for people to step in front of it and ask the console to turn on. That is not spying.

As for the NSA, they keep America safe. Today it was announced that their "spying" has thwarted over 50 terroris...

It easily ignores the PS4 because it is an X1 exclusive.

That has been announced so please move on gamers...

Why is this news? MS has had this requirement through the entire 360 generation...

I guess a bunch of gamers just woke up yesterday and realized this...

The Wii U has no place in this generation. Nintendo has some tough choices ahead of them...

Inferior how? Yes, in raw performance on paper PS4 outperforms X1...

But, consoles are about architecture, development tools, and operating systems, not raw performance. Anyone who has ever built a gaming PC knows this. PS3 outspec'd 360. But, until PS3 allowed mandatory installs, developers had a very tough time getting performance from PS3. In fact, most third party games performed much better on 360.

Agreed, MS flip flops to improve the gamer experience...

Sony flip flops to backtrack on previous promises that they would never do something like that...

MS gives you the bad news and improves over time, Sony sells you the moon and takes it away. If any other sales person did that to you, you'd return the product or sue them. Sony does it and Sony fanboys bend over for Sony to stick it up their butt..

Ex..
- Removal of dual boo...

Games doom a console... Not DRM...

And if DRM does doom a console, that is a sad reflection on gamers.

To me, consoles are solely about the games. That is why I buy every platform that releases. I care only about having the best games.

4117d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Yep, we will say the same in 5 years about DRM. Sony is the flip flop king!

Yeah, because RRoD is such a popular issue now...

Did you just come out of some psychotic time warp from 2007/8?

I would like to introduce you to 2013... Today, RRoD is a problem of the past...

Any HDMI can probably plug into the back of the X1 console and play through it. Not unexpected.

But, it is nice that both my MS consoles will be on one HDMI port in my receiver. And it is nice they redesigned 360 to look like a X1 so that they look good together in a entertainment unit.

The size of AAA games will increase dramatically next gen because of Blu-ray. Downloads will still be a deterent to many as downloading 20 GB for one game is not fun (even if it starts to play after the first GB).

For me:

1) Titanfall
2) Watch Dogs
3) Mirror's Edge 2
4) Final Fantasy XV
5) Forza 5
6) MGS V
7) Quantum Break

Destiny is a good game, but I don't think it is near as good as it should be.

When I heard Bungie were going on their own I thought excellent! We will see some crazy new concept IP...

Destiny is essentially an online Halo meets Borderlands. Is that bad? No... Is it great? It will be OK... Did I expect Bungie to go third party for more than this? Absolutely...
