Wow, there goal was to take the series in a different direction and they did...

So, if they would have come up with Kinect Resident Evil mini-games along the lines of Kinect Adventures they would have succeeded as well.

Or maybe a platformer like Ice Age - Resident Evil Edition.

I made the mistake of pre-ordering the game, once I got it home and seen reviews I wasn't even sure whether to put it in my console. I played through the first ...

This is a good add for Microsoft. They needed someone like this in Europe.

I don't know why there are so many posts about Sony in this thread. Yes, he is former Sony, but that was a while back. This is a huge loss for Atari though at a time when they are still not really doing good.

I like Phil at the top of the European studios more than Peter M. Peter needs to work with devt teams, Microsoft needs someone to evangelize a console and what it has to offe...

Add Lost Odyssey to the list of games more powerful than film. I have never been emotionally tied to a film like many games suck me in.

The interactivity of games, ties us more. Even games like CoD where when you play on veteran your heart pounds at getting to every successful checkpoint.

The emotion doesn't need to tie to the heart strings. Emotion is tied to action flicks as well in different ways. Many game are much more intense and action-filled the...

I always thought that XBLA games were under gamer score'd. There are many XBLA games that easily beat retail games in quality and longevity of gameplay.

I know people think this is all about hooking people to buy more XBLA games (and it probably will get the gamer score whore's buying more). But, as a gamer who has had a X360 console since launch I felt that XBLA games deserved more Gamerscore then just 200 GS (I would've preferred basing the system on game campai...

* Announce a new AAA IP for 2012
* Announce a 500 or 750 GB drive for XBox
* Announce all the Windows 8 Xbox Live Support
* Come through with their WP7 / Xbox integration
* Announce a portable Xbox (Ultra thin Notebook style for under $400)

A price drop at E3 does not make sense. This is the wrong time as the summer is just starting and it loses momentum by September. Price drops are most effective in September. And announcing a price drop fo...

The issue with DLC is that many gamers now like gamerscore and trophies and pride themselves in maintaining a high completion percentage.

DLC, effectively forces these types of gamers to buy their extra content to maintain the completion percentage.

No one is forcing them, but it really stinks if you buy a game, care about completion percentage, complete the trophies/gamerscore then see a whack of new DLC at or near month one.

Day one DLC is a cash grab. To me, DLC is about maintaining interest in a franchise between games. Putting out paid DLC as a game ships is only about making more cash.

I find the best DLCs are typically the ones that come out a few months after the game has released. And they usually are a story extension or bridge for fans of the game to keep interest while the franchise gets ready to announce its next game.

I seem to remember a demo from MS last year at E3 where someone had a WP7 and was playing with a Xbox Kinect gamer...

Anyhow, I am not sure how great this feature really is...

Might be useful for card games and board games where you are trying to hide what you are doing from other gamers in the room, but this will not replace core lan parties playing games like CoD, Gears, Killzone, Halo, etc.

Specs are only one piece of the console puzzle. Now, simplicity, loyalty programs, achievements/trophies, motion controls, controllers, dashboards, media entertainment, online sales, TV integration, online gaming, and games are a also a part of a console's success.

Nintendo doesn't have enough innovation in the Wii U for it to be something as good as the Wii was. The WiiMote and Nunchuk were easy to catch onto for casuals, the extra remote screen won't be so eas...

I think Nintendo will be first to blink.

Nintendo is only a gaming company unlike the others who are strong in other markets as well. Nintendo Wii U dosen't look that hot, and the 3DS is doing good but not great. Phones will continue to squeeze the handheld market which will put a ton of pressure on Nintendo. Wii U will only be ok and within two years of Wii U the PS4 and XBOX 720 will trump any success Wii U gains. Also Wii U has forever to catchup in online quality to b...

Alan Wake was one of my favourite games this gen. I think Remedy were more ambitous then the hardware and the size of their studio would let them accomplish, but going forward I think Alan Wake will be a great IP.

Also, I find it funny that the game isn't even out yet and people are "calling for the towel". Alan Wake is a must own for 360 owners. I am sure that Alan Wake American Nightmare will be a must own XBLA title.

The dashboard is no problem. Put in a game, go to the home tab and it is right there. Go to the games tab and you have full access to everything about games. Games have equal standing along with TV, apps, video, music, etc. on the dashboard. Microsoft is simply being smart. In order to sell the number of consoles required to attract publishers to stay on the platform, they are making the platform have broad appeal.

Non-gamers buy games like Call of Duty, Madden, etc. too. ...

I agree with re-making them in HD, and I am more then willing to pay to play classic games.

What urks me though is when you see scores of 90% on Metacritic for these games. Sure they were great, but to be re-released and often get just as high scores as the originals years later is ridulous. Especially when those scores often beat much better quality and deeper games today.

A truely exceptional game creates a compelling attachment to the characters/story, has awesome gameplay, and uses graphics and sound to tie everything together.

Weighting any of the four over top of each other is a disservice to the game and results in a less than perfect experience.

The price drop generates sales even if it is more expensive.

As for the PSN hack, I doubt too many people really used the PSN hack to make a console purchasing decision.

Still believe that based on the games last year and the price drop there was no reason for PS3 to be second in any region.

Especially, since the major competition to the PS3 didn't take any action to reduce price or compete on exclusives for the entire year.

It would be a disappointment with a price drop and the number of exclusives it had last year if it did not outsell other consoles.

When I saw the trailer I saw a lot of both Bayonetta and Vanquish in it... Nothing wrong with that. Both were a lot of fun. It may not be traditional MGS, but who said an MGS game has to always be about stealth and strategy.

Halo successfully branched to an RTS in Halo Wars. Warhammer branched from RTS to TPS and Stick shooter on the PSN and XBLA. Why can't Kojima move to more an action game for a side story or two?
