GoW 3 is the most badass game I've ever played. The reboot is about 75% of the way there in that aspect, but the combat was MILES better than in the older games. Just need more boss battles in Ragnarok really and it'll all be good.
I have to say no company has absolutely wowed me this year. I'm incredibly excited for Ragnarok and Ghostwire because we saw gameplay, but all others are just wait and see. Just like with PS, most of those Xbox games you listed are years out still. All companies need to stop teasing projects so early. Yes 2024 could be a good year for gaming, but show me what's coming out in the next 6-12 months and focus on that instead.
@Raiden Did ND do any work on the collection initially? I thought it was all BluePoint?
When they announced it I was ready for day 1. Then I saw the cg trailer and I questioned it. I need to see more gameplay.
I've had this same thought many times. When the PS3 store was going to be shitting down I wanted to see how much MW2 and Black Ops DLC was. Still at full price I decided it wasn't worth it.
I don't think it's a technical problem, but a greed problem. They could offer a cross-buy option as they have for so many games in the past, but they see their first huge game for PS5 and want to squeeze every bit of cash out.
I defend Sony on a lot of stuff, but I simply cannot in this case. What a horrible look.
I'll continue doing what I always do. Wait for the majority of games to reach $10-20 before buying. I only reserve my $60/$70 purch...
It seemed like the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy slowed a bit with the release of Rise. It had huge hype after the release of the first game, but by the time it came around to PS, it was more of an afterthought, and Shadow barely made a splash at all. I was lucky my buddy owned an X1 so I could play Rise right away, but to wait an extra year on a hot franchise would've sucked.
@Back4More "In October 2017, the company was acquired by Ziff Davis through its IGN Entertainment subsidiary, though operates as a separate subsidiary." - Wikipedia. Even if Ziff Davis did just own both, that's still a conflict of interest.
IGN owns Humble Bundle.
Some of the games look really cool. Do you think all the IGN articles and employee tweets will disclose that they have something to gain from GamePass subs now?
This looks cool, but didn't the devs just say that they didn't have time for a next gen update for the original game because they were focused on the sequel?
Although it's certainly great to hear about new projects, game developers/publishers have really put themselves in a bad situation. Everyone is announcing games that are 3+ years out. In my eyes that's not really acceptable or needed, there's enough games to go around, and not announcing big games way ahead of time would give indies space to be showcased as well.
It seems so late in the year for the reveal. The silence thus far has been strange.
Indeed. I always thought the same thing when I used to play BF3 on console, and then would see PC footage and wonder why it seemed they were moving so much faster.
Still waiting on Zelda to look like it did in the 2011 E3 tech demo.
And here I could say the main difference is that PS5 holds 60 fps better than XSX. Both statements are incomplete of what was discussed in the video. Really if you have a new system, just wait for the future patches to play.
@excaliburps We thought that 10 years ago with the release of Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 2.5, and Call of Duty has continued its reign since.
Halo usually does good numbers, but doesn't seem to have the legs of other FPS games.
In all likelihood the battlefield franchise has probably shrank in audience. The hardcore players are likely playing even more hardcore games (Tarkov, Rust, Siege). I have seen many complain about the lack of realism in BF...
From what I see, currently Sony fills spaces instead of trying to enter markets that are already saturated.
That doesn't mean I think all Sony games are the same, and I'm certainly not getting tired of them. Just because Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Ratchet and Clank are third person, doesn't mean they're anywhere close to the same experience.
In the PS3 generation, I would say that Sony was a bit more daring, but there's still...
I've also heard they're not comfortable for long sessions (mostly due to the ear cups not being large enough). I'm hoping they come out with a new version in a couple years to change them. I just broke my PS Gold Headset, so I'm just using over-ear headphones for the time being.
As much as I would love a true Killzone 4 and Resistance 4, I completely understand Sony's move to not compete in the FPS space. Halo can make a dent because of its historic popularity, but even then, Battlefield and Call or Duty overshadow Halo. With the PS franchises, spending time on Killzone as opposed to Horizon, or Resistance instead of Spider-Man, doesn't really make sense for them.
