...so are you saying Halo: Reach will look awesome but turn out to be a gimped RTS?
Just kidding. Oh, Tim Schaffer. "Inspired by Herzog Zwei." http://kotaku.com/5382233/t...
Also, the criteria were not named here. Are they listed anywhere in a non-PR way? Maybe the editors did a great job evaluating these, but games were only chosen if they met certain standards - selling to a certain amount of people, for example, because they want a large amount of people to be satisfied with the show.
We're arguing the reverse of people rebelling against the Oscars standards here. We'd like games that less people played to win because they actually deserved it...
This isn't the whole industry, this is Spike TV. UFC TV. Modern Warfare 2 Frat Boy TV. It's okay, the industry still exists. Go play Dragon Age, you'll feel better!
Have you played AC2 the whole way through already? On November 19th? Wow. I sure haven't. Tell us how it is, Mike Tyson!
Have any of you heard the entire Demon's Souls soundtrack? It's extremely well-written. Motives are transformed on different tracks, instrumentation is varied quite a bit, and the compositions are unique - they air on the side of Orff's Carmina Burana at points, but even those points aren't just the brazen Carmina rip-offs spread across all media all of the time.
Well, you would have to complete Demon's Souls to hear all of the soundtrack, and it gets better near the end. I un...
"Halo is God?" Why, because Microsoft paid good money to advertise their product? Good for them, but it has nothing to do with the quality of the product. Think of the first Assassin's Creed marketing campaign. Was that game "God?" I hope not!
I think Halo's great, but I think you mean "Money is King." I think I'd even change it to "Money is Cthulu" and call it a day. Have fun with your hyped preview.
@Saaking - Word. If you are a connoisseur of great games (and honestly, regardless of bad grammar and fanboyism issues, N4G has plenty), do yourself a favor and don't watch this dreck. It's like looking at the Country Music Awards and wishing they had the same type of judgment as the music composer Pulitzers.
Don't even worry about who chooses the awards or who wins - the show is on Spike. Their station has been kept alive solely by UFC (not that there's anything wrong with th...
I'm not quite sure that I understand any argument that Gamespot would be pulled to change their review score. This isn't some upstart franchise with a bunch of marketing and no substance a la Kane and Lynch. This is a game that was predicted to drop an atomic money bomb on the rest of the entertainment industry, and it did.
What difference is an 8.5 from one reviewer site going to do for sales that seem more like an unstoppable tsunami than a sign of how good the game is in t...
Agreed, and nice icon, Greywulf!
All I can think of is Dr. Evil saying "How about no?"
Did anyone visit Newgrounds back in the day when certain users would troll the Portal with really bad Flash stuff? It was still entertaining to watch, hence the popular Turd of the Week award. I feel like I'm watching that weekly award when I see a Hip Hop gamer headline.
The Pitt of the Flamelurker? Has Fallout 3 DLC trickled its way into Demon's Souls, or vice versa?
Actually, I could see people comparing a ruined dragon's graveyard to Pittsburgh, so perhaps this wasn't just a funny misspelling and miscapitalization...?
1.1 really did feel like an initiation! That game provides such a unique experience. Bravo to Atlus publishing in the US - such great sales for a game that was hardly advertised at all!
@FeralGamer - Really? You expected over 150K sales in the first month? I don't get it.
You have to put quite a few things together here. Atlus did not expect the game to sell this well, hence the many sell-outs in stores and a reprinting of the game. If people can't find the game, it won't sell as optimally as it should.
Also, we've gotta mention the difficulty. This game rewards you for playing it well, taking your time, developing strategies, and persi...
Yeah, usually I don't cry partisan, but it seems like The Last Guardian was thrown in to convince readers that the writers didn't live inside of a giant Xbox360 24/7.
But with that said, I liked the writeup for Last Guardian much better than the rest of the list! Well done!
@Frostypants - I see where you're coming from, and I really want to agree, but I just can't because of your last sentence - Sure, Halo is something that PC's did in the 1990's, but that's not a bad thing. Modern Warfare is something Halo did on the Xbox, Street Fighter 4 is something Karate Champ did on the NES, and Rez was nothing but Star Fox 64/Panzer Dragoon gameplay, and that's totally fine.
A big part of moving the video game industry forward is refining current assets. Th...
It's okay, everyone, you can all chill out about the Halo/COD comparisons now. One's exclusive and one isn't, they're both good FPS franchises, and they both make an aircraft carrier's weight in solid gold every day. I don't play either of them because it's not my cup of tea. That's about it.
Bigger strides? Where?
COD4 was so big that an exclusivity deal with the next one would have been immense. IW's going to make a bunch of money with a multiplatform Call of Duty - how much money would be needed to recoup the loss of profits with a deal?
You've gotta pick your battles, and I think Sony has picked the right ones, staying with their core second-party companies and leaving a few multiplayer blockbusters to the entire market.
Also, you'...
Awesome! My new Steam account has a much more polarizing classic - Gunvalkyrie.
About The D-Fail... oh wait, they're already complaining! http://negativegamer.com/20...
I don't see myself using the service, but this will work really well for people who are thinking of buying a PS3. You've got a lot of people in social networks that will be intrigued by updates from friends and ask them about how the PS3 is, hopefully. It's even more an advertising boon then a new function for consumers.
I've gotta say, their whole marketing plan is looking better every day.
Wait, Gravity Crash is coming on Tuesday to the EU store? Anyone know about a US release - is this going to coincide?
I wasn't concerned at all about MW2, but I'm pretty much foaming at the mouth for this game. Guess I'm just weird!
