Ok, so the critic reviews in the high 60's. I think it's fair to say they weren't exceeding most people's expectations, wouldn't you agree?
Metacritic user scores in the 5's for both these games. Guess they didn't exceed the GAMERS' expectations. You'd think they'd refrain from bragging with scores like that.
Well deserved. Wonder if it moved the needle forward on PSVR sales in any meaningful way.
The X is a great piece of hardware. If I still had my XB1 and wanted to stay with Microsoft, I'd buy it for sure. I've gotta think it'll be at least 2 years before MS puts out a more powerful console...
But you read that article and you come away feeling good about the X and FH4... That's what they're doing, marketing to maximize the up side of what they have, and minimize the attention on exclusives. You gotta admit they do that well
I don't mean this as a criticism - I think MS does a great job marketing. Just getting in front of so many different channels and getting their story published. Read this article and it reads like an advertisement. MS is in many cases controlling the message very well.
BTW my friends have proven to me that 2d video captures aren't enough to get people interested in this. I guess it probably just looks like stripped down R6 with worse graphics. There's just no way to describe how fin awesome this is without trying it.
The point is STRATEGICALLY if Sony realized they were wrong and subscription models are the only way to make money in the new world, Sony isn't behind the eight ball because they have a solution ready. They're not really at a big disadvantage, which means that MS doesn't really have a big advantage. To turn the tides they either need something unique and not easily replicable, or for the competition to screw up...
I'm saying replicating GamePass isn't a technical challenge and if Sony wanted to do it, they could. Why they would WANT to do it is another story. Sony releases a good number of full price exclusives each year, and I'm guessing they'd lose money if they put all those exclusives on PSNow and only charged like $100-120 a year. That's equivalent to two games, and those users will end up buying fewer games in general cause they're apt to just play what's part of the s...
I get that necessity breeds innovation but MS certainly didn't NEED to lose before innovating. I'm not as optimistic for MS next gen because I really don't think they're far ahead in any strategic area. The Game Pass is pretty easily replicable (add download to PS Now and add more recent games), the streaming stuff Sony is already ahead of them on, and in terms of IP, MS is just starting to plan for not looking as embarrassing in 3 years. None of these areas look like a real s...
I know these are for the PC, but as an aside the beta isn't looking really great on my PS4 Pro, not nearly as good as BF1 does. Hopefully they just haven't optimized for the pro yet. The HDR seems off in places too...
Same here. Gonna be playing tonight. Tracking while ADS doesn't seem as good as it is in Farpoint, hope they patch that
I played it a bit yesterday, and holy crap it's amazing. It's as close as I've seen to that feeling you get playing paintball. I can't even begin to explain it to my friends that don't have VR. If you don't have VR and you have a friend that has this you need to invite yourself over and try it.
My brother and I feel Siamese Twins are also under-represented...
I agree. I find it funny that he leaves out the Xbox One from the list of consoles with the best gaming experience, yet the hardcore gamers still stuck with them "always". At least be honest and accept that you lost some during that period...
"Hardcore players, those who prefer the best gaming experience, have always been on our side, from the first Xbox to Xbox 360 and now with the Xbox One X."
I'm sorry, ccgr, but that's clearly because you're not a hard core gamer. Perhaps you qualify for the "soft core" label? ;-)
This is a good idea. it's been talked about for a while, surprised no one has moved on it since now. Wonder if Sony will follow suit...
Do you only watch the shows on during prime time? :-)
@Bnet343 - sorry I meant your Dad's CC info. You can't sign up without a CC on file, and their terms state what happens: "Subscription continues to be charged monthly at then-current price (subject to change; plus applicable taxes) unless cancelled.".
I'm impressed given that this is MS' home field advantage (US), MS has been aggressively sale pricing and bundlng so that the XB is less $, along with their services, and they are better with product placement in the US stores. I also think they're a bit better with marketing and do the Hollywood thing with TV shows like Apple does. Despite all that...
